The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company’s regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule YEAR-ROUND.
As a Part-Time Student Factory Automation for JD Power Systems located in Waterloo, IA, you will:
• Learn about and apply knowledge in technologies for manufacturing execution systems, vision systems (part location and inspection), and other automation technology in a production environment
• Opportunity to learn about and assist in programming Allen Bradley PLCs and HMIs, Fanuc robots and CNC
• Assist with continuous improvement factory automation projects that support safety, quality, or efficiency initiatives
• Assist with Manufacturing Execution System setup and testing
• Assist other factory automation engineers with support in troubleshooting shop floor issues

• Ideally you will be pursuing a degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or Data Science; others may apply
• Must be registered as a full-time student at a local accredited university
• Graduation date of December 2026 or later
• Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above
• Work 16-20 hours/week during the academic year
• Work 35-40 hours/week during the summer semester
• Must be able to commute to the Waterloo, IA work location on a daily basis
• Knowledge of databases (SQL, DB2, Oracle)
• Strong communication skills both written and verbal
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Understanding network connectivity requirements for equipment
• Experience programming in multiple languages Python, Visual Basic, SQL
• Previous experience with Gen AI
• Knowledge of computer vision systems
Ideally you will be pursuing a degree in:
• Engineering or Engineering Technology discipline
• Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or Data Science
