Position Overview

Reporting to the Region President, the Performance & Strategy Manager will be responsible for leading, sustaining, and evolving AMAT’s Performance Management strategy and continuous improvement efforts across all lines of business. In addition, they will lead and guide multi-year programs, to drive execution of the strategy. Other duties include capability building, acquisition due diligence, performance process and system implementation, training program implementation, and the identification, evaluation and sharing of enterprise innovations and leading practices.

To be successful, the preferred candidate should be able to effectively work in a fast-paced, dynamic, corporate environment. Proven project, change, and process management experience will be critical for success. Travel will be required, expect periods of up to 75% travel various times throughout the year. 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

This is a key position that will have the opportunity to work in a highly visible role to guide the growth and development of performance tools and technologies.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:

  1. Establish metrics, benchmarks, and goals to monitor and evaluate performance improvement initiatives across the Rockies North Region.
  2. Work alongside leadership to examine trends and best practices within the organization, utilize data and insights, and provide recommendations aimed at improving and advancing business performance by optimizing systems across various business lines.

 

  1. Drive improvements in product features and the creation of automated solutions to promote user adoption, increase engagement, enhance integrations, and optimize system performance.

 

  1. Provide direction and support to project- and cross-functional teams, ensuring the effective implementation and execution of improvement strategies.

 

  1. Conduct regular assessments, training sessions, and workshops to develop employee competencies and foster an environment of ongoing enhancement.

 

  1. Maintain communication with stakeholders by providing updates on special projects, as well as any challenges, or potential opportunities.

 

  1. Aids with acquisition integration.
  2. Drives Best Practice Sharing across the region.

 

  1. Work on ad hoc projects as directed.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree (or comparable work experience)
  • Minimum of 5 years work experience in Construction Management, Systems Implementation, Product Management, Project Management, or related field
  • Ability to drive results in a decentralized organization, through influence, persuasion, leadership, presentations, training, coaching, and group facilitation
  • Strong ability to gain trust and create alignment across the organization to help drive the performance strategy
  • Experience in building trust and coaching a diverse team of operational and commercial leaders
  • Ability to balance resource demands from multiple internal customers.
  • Experience in performing diagnostic reviews to identify improvement opportunities and value
  • Experience as a Project Manager with strong change management skills
  • Technologically savvy, with a full understanding and fluency in relevant computer applications
  • Demonstrated experience in performance improvement and change management.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive for results and lead innovation and change.  

 

Additional Requirements

 

  • Travel 30 to 75%
  • Ability to work on various manufacturing plant environments and construction sites.

 The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

 

  • Strong financial, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Business acumen in production manufacturing, distribution and/or construction operations
  • A hands-on, collaborative approach
  • The ability to influence business leaders and facilitate change, balancing drive for continuous improvement with respect for local company culture
  • Results-oriented - able to multi-task and delivers results against multiple priorities - with outstanding attention to detail
  • Excellent communications skills (interpersonal, presentation and written) with an ability to interface with a variety of stakeholders with tact, patience, flexibility, and courtesy 
  • Demonstrated sense of urgency and maintain on-time project coordination and planning
  • Ability to maintain effectiveness when experiencing major changes within work structure, processes, job requirements or cultures
  • Ability to anticipate and respond to customer requirements, expectations and needs
  • Must be able to allocate / delegate decision making responsibility appropriately while conveying clear expectations

Physical Requirements

  • Able to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and hear
  • May require standing for extended periods of time
  • Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Must be able to hold weights of 5-10lbs in a stretched arm position for extended periods of time
  • Able to climb ladders or stairs and to work at heights
  • Able to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time

 

Work Environment

 

  • Normal office working conditions in addition to industrial plant sites and quarries, requiring the usage of personal protective equipment, e.g., hard hat, steel-toed boots, and safety glasses.
  • The position may require work outside of normal business hours in response to critical incidents or business-impacting project deliverables.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; and risk of electrical shock or burn.
  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • The noise level in some areas of the work environment may be loud but is typically moderate.
