DescriptionJob Overview:
The Principal Tech Services Specialist / System Owner is responsible for interpreting internal or external business issues and recommending best practices. They will be tasked with solving complex Tech Services-related problems and will work independently with minimal guidance. The Principal Tech Services Specialist may be responsible for leading functional teams or projects and is regarded as a specialist in Tech Services. As such, they must have in-depth expertise in Tech Services as well as broad knowledge of the Tech Services discipline within the Onshore Construction function.
ResponsibilitiesKey Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Planning
- Maintain the integrated schedule with regular updates and forecasts, and highlighting risks to the schedule
- Anticipate schedule slippage and recommending mitigation measures
Verification - Carry out scope verification between SCDB and system boundary drawings for nominated systems
- Raise change requests to implement changes in the completions database
- Advising
- Provide guidance and participation in specialty discipline activities concerning Mechanical Completion, Commissioning, and turnover for their systems from start to finish (cradle to grave)
- Provide technical support and expert advice
- Reviewing
- Review MC packages, in conjunction with construction personnel, when offered for handover to ensure a consistent approach
- Review scope requirements with other SOs to ensure resources are properly planned
- Update of weekly progress against the integrated schedule
- Reporting
- Attend weekly System Owner meetings
- Prepare weekly System Owner report
- Sign off on System Completion check sheets and certificates
- Participation
- Active participation in joint tri-party punch-outs of systems.
- Pro-active attendance of Mechanical Completions (MC) meetings (when the time comes)
- Supervise technician resources
- Toolbox talks and safety meetings
- Monitoring the following by frequent inspections and meetings:
- Liaise through Procurement with vendor representatives and ensure vendors’ plans are met
- Prepare master punch lists in conjunction with the MC coordinator
- Monitor all activities against the integrated schedule
- Monitor completion activities in the field
- Supervision and monitoring of check sheet activities
- Participate and provide working knowledge of permit-to-work systems
- Monitor and audit the PTW and safety isolation procedures in place on site
- Ensure the following through supervision and reporting of others:
- Ensure that all discipline scope is included in the Completions database by interacting with all involved parties
- Ensure that check sheet content reflects the scope of work
- Ensure critical System Completion activities are witnessed
- Ensure Material Take Offs are prepared for all carry over punch items
- Ensure that preservation within their systems is maintained regularly and the Completions database is updated accordingly
QualificationsEssential Qualifications and Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent
- Approximately 7 to 10 years of experience in construction
- Intermediate knowledge of company construction procedures, progress systems, material management systems, document management and timekeeping systems
- Ability to promote and drive work process and culture change on company’s projects
- Leadership skills
- Advanced understanding of construction sequencing and construction techniques
- A self-confident team player who is comfortable dealing with people at all levels in the organization
- Excellent attention to detail and proven ability to meet deadlines, troubleshoot, and resolve issues
- Respected for uncompromising integrity, work ethic, and professionalism
- Energetic with a positive and enthusiastic disposition, possessing a can-do attitude
- Project-focused, values-oriented, and results-driven
- Advanced MS Office skills, specifically with Excel and Access
