The Production Planner/Scheduler plans, prepares, issues and controls production work packages and schedules. Coordinates material need dates with applicable departments to ensure a controlled flow to meet production requirements. Advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials, and services are provided as needed. Schedules equipment and personnel, confirms material supply and demands, prepares work orders according to master production schedule. Coordinates inter-departmental activity with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, inventory control, traffic, etc.; schedules and expedites the movement of parts by means of move orders, stock transfers and requests for shipping orders.
Responsibilities
- Determines operations improvements in relation to safety, quality, manning, scheduling, etc.
- Advise a production workforce on processes and/or procedures
- Use of standardized estimating procedures and material cost
- Prepare technical work documents and specifications for production work
- Coordinate planning for ship work projects to verify projects are completed in accordance with established timelines
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field and minimum of two (2) years of scheduling experience, or an associate degree with at least six (6) years’ experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint)
- Experience with P6 (Oracle) scheduling software.
- AutoCAD experience preferred
- Strong critical thinking, problem solving and analytical skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to interact professionally with all levels of the organization
- Must be detail-oriented and have proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong customer service skills
