Project Engineer FLSA Status: Exempt Admin This position is responsible for assisting project personnel in the planning, directing, coordinating activities of a designated project to ensure that goals or objectives of project are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters by performing the following duties personally or through project supervision. Individuals in this position will be expected to perform additional job related responsibilities and duties as assigned and/or as necessary. Essential Duties and Responsibilities An individual must be able to successfully perform the essential functions on this position with or without a reasonable accommodation. Communicate with (or to) individuals or groups verbally and/or in writing (e.g. customers, suppliers, employees). Maintain relationships to ensure needs are met and problems/conflicts are resolved. Assists with pre-construction activities as needed (construction planning and design; interpretation of design and drawings; application of construction methods; bid packages) Interprets designs and drawings; prepares takeoffs; researches and recommends resolutions to drawing interpretation problems, conflicts and errors Prepares drawings and sketches to support construction work, change orders, estimates, etc. Verifies work-in-place quantities for invoicing/pay quantities; verifies accurate payment of subcontractors and material suppliers Maintains submittal logs and timely receipt and review of submittals and shop drawings Recognizes change conditions with respect to the contract and notifies appropriate parties Ensures all completed work complies with applicable codes, drawings and specifications; coordinates inspections and testing Assembles construction financial data; monitors costs; tracks costs for force account Maintains job costing system and updates systems to reflect forecasts; creates margin reporting Ensures craft time cards are completed accurately, reflecting hours worked and tasks worked on; assigns cost codes to all purchases, time cards, contracts, equipment time and any other item involving cost Assists project personnel with daily job reports and schedule monitoring Creates correspondence to owners, contractors, subcontractors, engineers, architects, etc. Maintains as-built drawings; posts RFI, bulletin and ASI as appropriate Maintains RFI logs and timely response to job questions Assists with constructability reviews and value engineering functions Develops, implements and administers project engineering procedures and other work documents; tracks and logs documentation Ensures correct setup and maintenance of filing syste Assists in the definition of contract bid packages, coordinating scopes of work, and in preparing the packages Takes weekly jobsite photographs Maintains all safety records Completes appropriate paperwork for new field hires Assists in preparing project status reports and participates in project status meetings; assists in development of meeting minutes Assists in project close-out activities Communicates and reinforces the Company vision, mission, and values Must be willing to travel if required. Supervisory Responsibilities Manages one or more hourly field position if needed. Responsibilities may include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Bachelorâs degree from four-year College or university; or 1-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Ability to read, analyze and interpret business documents, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. May be required to use a personal computer and be familiar with Windows based applications such as Word, Excel, scheduling and job costing software. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations Must have valid driverâs license. Must be willing to travel if required. Must be knowledgeable about and follow the companyâs safety policies and procedures. Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop or kneel. Work Environment Working in the following environment is necessary to perform one or more of the essential functions of this position. Occasionally may work in high and/or precarious places. Work indoors for extended periods of time. Occasionally work in outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
