Job Overview:

Shepperd Construction is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee the successful execution of commercial, industrial, and government/federal construction projects. This role requires a highly organized, detail-oriented leader who can manage multiple project phases, coordinate subcontractors and vendors, and ensure quality control while keeping projects on time and within budget. Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and coordinate all phases of construction projects, from pre-construction planning to final completion.
  • Oversee budgeting, scheduling, and subcontractor management to ensure timely and cost-effective project execution.
  • Perform quality control inspections and enforce compliance with project specifications, contracts, and safety regulations.
  • Issue subcontracts and purchase orders, ensuring project buyout is executed efficiently.
  • Manage subcontractors, vendors, and consultants to maintain workflow and resolve project challenges.
  • Conduct and lead project meetings, including pre-construction, OAC (Owner-Architect-Contractor), and OEC (Owner-Engineer-Contractor) meetings.
  • Monitor job site safety, enforce OSHA standards, and ensure a safe work environment for all team members.
  • Identify scope changes and negotiate change orders to maintain project profitability.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and regulatory officials.
  • Travel to multiple job sites as needed to oversee progress and ensure high-quality construction standards.

Qualifications:
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of verifiable project management experience in general construction.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of commercial, industrial, and government/federal projects.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Project) and ability to read and interpret blueprints and contracts.
  • Project Leadership: Demonstrated ability to manage schedules, budgets, and teams effectively.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to coordinate with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly identify and resolve construction issues while keeping projects on track.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 80 lbs and navigate job sites, including elevated structures and stairs.
  • Safety Knowledge: Experience ensuring OSHA compliance and enforcing site safety protocols.

Preferred Experience:
  • Background in multifamily projects is a plus.
  • Experience with LEAN, Six Sigma, ISO, or QMS methodologies is a bonus.
