Overview

Reports to: Director of Safety

 

FLSA Status:  SHORT TERM Full-Time employment (up to 2 years of employment based on project support), Salaried-Exempt

 

Normal Working Hours – Field: 7 am to 3:30 pm, or Office: 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, plus additional hours as required for completing project duties

 

Position Objective: Oversee project site safety and ensure jobsites are adhering to OSHA standards, Joeris policies, and safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Manage safety as it applies to the UT ROCIP
  • Manage PSAs
  • Actively supporting the company’s commitment to safety and the Joeris core values.
  • Obtain and track certifications and safety documentation from subcontractors.
  • Provide daily safety inspections of jobsites and follow up/resolve issues.
  • Investigate theft incidents on job sites and complete theft reports in a timely manner.
  • Audit PPE for proper usage and assist with PPE replacement if necessary.
  • Assist with investigating/documenting accidents and injuries.
  • Meet with trade partners to discuss job-site layouts, updates, traffic plans, etc.
  • Maintain accident log for both Joeris employees and subcontractors.
  • Communicate pre-task planning (PTP) with subcontractors and other job site personnel.
  • Evaluate safety violations and administer safety citations as needed.
  • Ensure security measures on the jobsite are in place including, ensuring fencing is secure and cameras are working and charged.
  • Support Superintendents and Assistant Superintendents with Toolbox Talks.
  • Organize safety meetings on project sites
  • Conduct and assist with onsite trainings and orientation.
  • Conduct one on one safety training as needed.
  • Conduct safety meetings with Safety Team, subcontractors, project teams, and other jobsite personnel.
  • Ensure jobsite signage is clean, level, and up to date on projects.
  • Additional duties as required

Qualifications

  • High School diploma required
  • At least seven (7) consecutive years dedicated solely to building construction safety with at least five (5) years of building construction safety management experience.
  • Experience with the UT Safety specs and requirements
  • Practical knowledge, working experience, and documented continuing education in all of the following: a) fall protection, b) scaffold (ground supported and suspended), c) excavation/trench, d) confined space (permit/non-permit), e) crane operation, f) electrical safety, g) incident investigation, h) industrial hygiene for construction, i) fire protection and prevention, j) lockout/tagout, k) basic crane rigging, and 1) respiratory protection. Training of less than four (4) hours in duration per topic will not be considered acceptable
  • Possess a certificate of completion for the OSHA 500 Trainer Course for Construction or OSHA 502 Update for the Construction Industry Outreach Trainers.
  • Must show evidence of specialized training with in-person demonstration of competency for Emergency First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and Automatic External Defibrillator (AEED) current to within two (2) years.
  • Shall provide documentation to support the qualifications and experience of the training organization(s) and/or individuals that provided the training.
  • OSHA 500, OSHA 510, OSHA 30, fall protection, scaffolding, trench and excavation, electrical, First Aid/CPR/AED, confined space certifications
