Public Involvement Specialist

Job Overview:
We are seeking a Public Involvement Specialist to support communication and public outreach efforts for large-scale permitting, planning, and construction projects. This role involves developing and implementing strategic engagement plans, coordinating public events, and creating outreach materials to ensure effective community involvement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead public involvement and public relations activities for client capital projects.
• Develop and execute public engagement strategies, including planning events and preparing outreach materials.
• Organize and facilitate public meetings, information sessions, surveys, and other engagement initiatives.
• Create content for brochures, newsletters, fact sheets, mailers, websites, and social media.
• Support government briefings and project presentations to external stakeholders.
• Assist in crafting project messaging, ensuring clear and effective communication with the public.
• Coordinate logistics for outreach events and initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned while adhering to company policies and standards.

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field from an accredited program, with 4 years of strategic communication experience OR Master's degree in a related field with 3 years of strategic communication experience.
• Experience in communications for engineering or construction projects is a plus.
• Strong media relations skills, including experience working with media outlets to develop and deliver key messages and manage news, events, and crisis communications.
• Proposal writing experience is highly preferred.
• Experience in social media content creation, news releases, web design, and coding for both traditional and social media platforms is a plus.
• Bilingual (Spanish required).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong ability to understand and support the communications processes for large-scale permitting and construction projects.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Expert analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• High level of attention to detail with a focus on quality assurance.
