Overview:

The QA/QC Manager – Electrical Construction leads the quality assurance and control function for all electrical construction projects, ensuring compliance with project specifications, codes, client standards, and internal benchmarks. This role provides strategic direction, technical oversight, team mentorship, and field leadership to uphold and continuously improve project quality and performance.

Essential Functions:

1. QA/QC Program Leadership: 35%

  • Oversees the implementation and refinement of quality systems across all electrical projects.
  • Establishes and maintains QA/QC protocols, metrics, and standard operating procedures.
  • Interfaces with executives, clients, and regulatory entities on quality-related matters.
  • Conducts high-level program reviews, analyzing outcomes and driving corrective actions as needed.

2. Field Oversight and Audits: 25%

  • Leads and participates in site inspections and audits to ensure adherence to the National Electrical Code (NEC), Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements, and contractual specifications.
  • Oversees field validations, testing, and documentation performed by QA/QC personnel.
  • Serves as the final escalation point for complex quality issues arising on-site, facilitating timely resolution.

3. Documentation and Compliance: 20%

  • Oversees the development and execution of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), punch lists, and quality control documentation.
  • Ensures audit-ready documentation is consistently maintained across all active and completed projects.
  • Standardizes QA/QC reporting processes and integrates documentation within project management platforms (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam). 

4. Training and Mentorship: 15%

  • Designs and delivers targeted QA/QC training programs to field staff, supervisors, and project teams.
  • Coaches and mentors QA/QC personnel and project teams.
  • Champions a culture rooted in quality, safety, and individual accountability.

5. Continuous Improvement: 5%

  • Analyzes field data and trends to identify systemic issues, leading structured root cause analyses.
  • Recommends and implements process improvements to elevate quality standards and minimize rework.
  • Benchmarks against industry standards and integrates best practices.
  • Tracks performance metrics and supports strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing operational excellence.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • 8+ years in electrical construction with at least 3 years in QA/QC leadership required.
  • Journeyman’s License required; Master Electrician preferred.
  • OSHA 30, ASQ Certified Quality Manager (CQM), or NICET credentials are a plus.
  • Experience managing QA/QC programs in commercial or industrial environments. 

Skills/Abilities:

  • Proven ability to lead audits, inspections, and field investigations.
  • Advanced understanding of NEC, OSHA, NFPA 70E, and other industry codes.
  • High proficiency in QA/QC platforms, project management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of commissioning processes and lifecycle documentation standards.

Work Environment:

  • Office environment with frequent travel to active construction sites.
  • Outdoor work environment with exposure to varying weather conditions, loud noise levels, uneven surfaces, and potential hazards.

Physical Demands:

  • Able to stand, walk, climb, bend, reach, stoop, kneel, lift, carry, push, handle products, and stretch for extended periods of time with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.
