Job Summary: We are seeking a reliable and skilled Railroad Foreman with equipment operation experience to oversee and lead track construction and maintenance activities, while ensuring the safe and efficient operation of railroad equipment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the railroad industry, managing teams, and operating various types of heavy equipment for track construction, repair, and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead a team of railroad workers in the installation, maintenance, and repair of railroad tracks and related infrastructure.
- Operate and maintain various heavy machinery and equipment including, but not limited to, rail grinders, ballast regulators, tampers, excavators, and backhoes.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all applicable regulations, standards, and company policies.
- Coordinate with engineers, dispatchers, and other railroad personnel to ensure smooth workflow and timely project completion.
- Perform inspections and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, coordinating repairs or maintenance as necessary.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of crew members, providing training and coaching to improve skills and safety awareness.
- Document daily activities, track maintenance records, and equipment usage.
- Communicate regularly with management regarding progress, safety concerns, and any operational issues.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and guidelines, conducting regular safety meetings and job briefings.
