Job Summary
The Roadway Engineer will join our Atlanta team, reporting to either the Norcross, GA office (located at 4940 Peachtree Industrial Blvd, Norcross, GA 30071) or the Atlanta, GA office (located at 55 Allen Iverson Blvd, Atlanta, GA 30308). Experience with GDOT is highly desired. The ideal candidate should have 5-10+ years of experience working on GDOT and Georgia Municipal projects. The Roadway Engineer will be responsible for the collection and analysis of data for the preparation of roadway and bicycle/pedestrian designs. Job duties include performing design calculations, conducting investigative analyses toward completion of assigned design tasks, directing the preparation of design drawings and/or specifications, preparation of roadway/surface models utilizing AASHTO and other applicable design specifications to meet state and local requirements. Job duties also include collaborating with designers and assisting project managers on design review and permitting and evaluating proposed opportunities and advance proposal efforts on behalf of the company.

Responsibilities
  • Develop effective and innovative designs for interstate widenings, interchange/intersection improvements, traffic management and roadway drainage design on roadway/bicycle/pedestrian improvement projects.
  • Assist in new business development by contributing to strategic planning, marketing, assisting with proposals and business operations planning.
  • Provide coordination of project execution and control on roadway design projects to achieve continuity of purpose within scope, budget, and time schedules from initial start-up through final design.
  • Coordinate with project team, contractors, vendors, and other consultants to ensure compliance with engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design requirements.
  • Provide internal quality control for construction drawings, design calculations and specifications to ensure technical accuracy, conformance to project requirements, and overall constructability.
  • Work with Project Management to ensure projects are completed on schedule and under budget.
  • Must be able to independently manage project tasks.
  • Maintain organized documentation/archives of design files, drawings, and construction submittals.
  • Proactively communicate with clients, environmental agencies, and federal entities on the implications of the construction.
  • Provide construction assistance and respond to Requests for Information as necessary.
Qualifications 
  • Experience working on GDOT infrastructure projects highly desired.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office suite, MicroStation Inroads/Geopak, OpenRoads, and ProjectWise.
  • Knowledgeable in job cost, scheduling, safety, and construction concepts.
  • A valid Driver's License is required with a safe driving record and must complete a pre-employment screening.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering required.
  • EIT required, PE highly preferred.
  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience in surface/roadway design required; GDOT experience preferred.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This position predominantly involves up to 8 hours per day at a computer workstation, with occasional standing and walking. The employee may occasionally lift lightweight office supplies and materials, typically not exceeding 20 pounds. The office environment is indoors, characterized by controlled temperatures and minimal exposure to adverse conditions. Employees must have the ability to visually discern and differentiate details and colors of objects, and proficiency in recognizing sound, tone, and pitch. Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary. The role demands adaptability to interruptions and changes in workflow, as well as the capacity to sit for extended periods.
 
Expected Hours of Work
The ICE offices are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, allowing an unpaid hour for lunch daily. Work schedules may vary according to the project schedule. This is an onsite position reporting to the ICE office 5 days a week.
