About Us:
Accura Engineering & Consulting Services is a rapidly growing architectural, engineering, and consulting firm serving clients in the public and private sectors. We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant who brings both strong general accounting expertise and hands-on project accounting experience, preferably within the AEC
(Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) industry. This hybrid role is critical to ensuring accurate financial operations at both the corporate and project levels.
Key Responsibilities:
Corporate Accounting Functions:
- Manage full-cycle accounting including month-end and year-end close processes.
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure accurate financial records.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Perform bank reconciliations and cash flow monitoring for multiple accounts.
- Support the budgeting and forecasting process with accurate historical data and insights.
- Assist with external audits and coordinate with tax accountants and auditors.
- Monitor intercompany transactions and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Manage fixed assets and prepare depreciation schedules.
- Maintain compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
Project Accounting Responsibilities:
- Support Project Managers with project setup, billing, job cost reporting, and financial tracking.
- Ensure accurate coding and classification of project expenses in the accounting system (Procas).
- Review project contracts to determine billing terms and accounting requirements.
- Coordinate and review client invoices based on contract terms (T&M, CPFF, FFP).
- Perform job cost reconciliations and track project-level budget performance.
- Manage subcontractor compliance documents including certificates of insurance and lien waivers.
- Review and approve project-related vendor and subcontractor invoices.
- Support project audits and ensure contract compliance in billing and cost recognition.
- Communicate regularly with Project Managers to resolve financial queries and ensure alignment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
- 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including project accounting experience in an AEC environment.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and project-based accounting principles.
- Familiarity with contract types (CPFF, T&M, FFP) and billing structures.
- Experience with public agency clients (GDOT, MARTA, FAA, etc.) is a strong plus.
- Proficiency with accounting software; Procas experience highly preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and data analysis functions.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
