Position Overview
The Senior Planner / Scheduler is responsible for organizing, developing, analyzing, and maintaining project controls and integrated schedules required to support established objectives. This role supports cost and schedule control throughout the lifecycle of complex projects or work activities.
Under limited supervision, the individual will perform moderately complex planning and scheduling functions within a technical project environment.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, analyze, implement, and maintain complex, logic-driven, integrated, and resource-loaded schedules supporting short, mid-range, and long-range planning.
Formulate and define schedule logic to ensure baseline milestones and objectives are met.
Analyze schedule performance trends and recommend corrective actions to mitigate potential issues or constraints.
Review established planning technology and methodology and recommend improvements to maximize resource utilization and schedule efficiency.
Develop and maintain project milestone schedules to support optimal execution and management concurrence.
Analyze cost and schedule variance and provide recommendations for corrective action.
Lead schedule review meetings and serve as the scheduling subject matter resource within the assigned division or project.
Provide guidance and oversight to planning and scheduling activities, including monitoring essential or critical path planning activities.
Maintain effective working relationships and interface regularly with all levels of management.
May assume a lead role in planning and scheduling for a large project, facility, or department.
Required Qualifications
Education and Experience
Master's degree in business, construction management, engineering, technical discipline, or related field and 2 years of practical experience;
OR
Bachelor's degree in business, construction management, engineering, technical discipline, or related field and 5 years of practical experience;
OR
Associate degree and 8 years of relevant practical experience;
OR
High school diploma and 12 years of relevant experience.
Experience and Skills
Strong proficiency with automated accounting, budgeting, cost management, and estimating systems.
Demonstrated knowledge of project management and cost and schedule control within technical environments such as nuclear, engineering, construction, operations, maintenance, or project startup.
Experience developing conceptual estimating, coordination with technical personnel, and understanding field construction techniques, labor, and equipment requirements.
Ability to quantify work condition impacts on cost and schedule.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience applying Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) cost and schedule requirements.
Active DOE L or Q clearance within the past two years.
