About the Position

Pond is currently seeking an experienced Senior Construction Project Manager to join our growing Life Science & Industrial team in Peachtree Corners, GA.  The ideal candidate possesses a minimum of 8 years of related experience and wants to grow, collaborate, and innovate.  In this position, the successful candidate will perform a variety of project management duties for construction projects for a wide range of clients across the US and internationally.  Projects will span multiple markets and geographies, affording opportunities for broadening knowledge and deepening skill sets related to design and construction projects. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads the project team to complete work on time and within budge
  • Sets up project management and disciplines budgets, monitors on a weekly basis and works with project staff and Design Directors (DD’s) to ensure budgets are met.
  • Anticipate budget short falls and overages well in advance and adjust schedules and work effort accordingly to achieve man-hour, revenue, profit and schedule goals. Controls scope creep.
  • Conducts a kick-off meeting and establishes project schedules prior to beginning work. Ensures all project team members are informed on the scope of work, schedules, fee allocations, client requirements and proposal qualifications.
  • Coordinates development of work plans with project leads. Coordinates flow of information between the client and project staff immediately. Provides early warning to staff of revised schedules and project requirements.
  • Works with DD’s to ensure adequate resources are assigned and scheduled on projects to meet deadlines and budgets. Ensures appropriate administrative support is scheduled on projects.
  • Conducts and leads regular project progress meetings (a minimum of bi-weekly) and ensures proper technical coordination occurs between disciplines.
  • Ensures development of a quality project by reviewing the documents/work products on a regular basis for presentation quality, adherence to client scope and company quality standards.
  • Coordinates and schedules technical and constructability reviews.
  • Keeps current with overall understanding of all disciplines of work.
  • Is responsive in all situations to all questions and issues by maintaining an attitude of open communication and in keeping with our corporate values.
  • Maintains relationships, and becomes familiar with client’s business and expectations, to encourage and promote future/repeat business.
  • Keeps current with client criteria/requirements, ensures deliverables meet clients expectations.
  • Assists in preparing proposals, presentations, reports and visiting prospective clients.
  • Coordinates preparation of fee proposals and scope qualifications with DD’s. Assists in negotiating fee proposals.
  • Assists in reviewing, editing and preparing contracts with client. Ensures proper signatures are executed and contracts are in accounting prior to beginning work.
  • Coordinates with subconsultants to establish fees and coordinates with accounting to establish subconsultant agreements.
  • Understands and masters the basics of accrual accounting as it relates to revenue and billing, coordinates with Accounting on billing and revenue issues and works closely with Program Managers to establish monthly revenues.
  • Maintains working knowledge of the company accounting software/platform.
  • Updates project plan and sales report in the company’s accounting software on a regular basis, no less than monthly.
  • Reviews and approves expense report charges on projects and time sheets as required.
  • Acts as project lead on selected projects.
  • May be required to work after typical hours as project requirements and company needs dictate.
  • Develops and maintains positive customer and client relationships to foster repeat business.
  • Updates and maintains body of knowledge related to training, degree and job responsibilities.
  • Possesses strong communication, interpersonal and management skills.
  • Completes assigned work on time and within budget.
  • Adheres to and enforces company policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field; or eight years of post secondary education and experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in an A/E/C focused consulting environment managing full design and design-build vertical facilities serving industrial, higher education, municipal, and corporate clients.
  • Understanding of industry-standard workflow for RIF and Submittal review process. 
  • The ability to read and understand a set of engineering drawings, construction documents, plans, and specifications.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment, positive attitude, multi-task, and self-motivated to produce high quality work.
  • Proficient with relevant software such as Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, and others.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external team members in person and on various communication platforms.
  • Ability and desire to learn and grow professionally
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time

Many factors are considered when determining compensation at Pond, including scope and level of position, geographic location, candidate skill, knowledge and experience. Starting base pay may vary depending on these factors. We anticipate filling this position as a Senior Construction Project Manager with a salary range of $117,400.00 - $189,500.00 .
