ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a Sr. Fire Protection Engineer to join our team supporting the Nevada National Security Site! This position is full-time and will be based out of Mercury, Nevada.

Responsibilities

  • Provide fire protection programmatic implementation support at various NNSS and NLV facilities.

  • Perform, create, and develop:

    • fire protection assessments,

    • fire hazards analysis,

    • fire risk assessments,

    • equivalencies & exemptions,

    • design reviews,

    • procedure reviews,

    • life safety code analysis, and

    • system walk-downs.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education & Years of Experience – Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Protection Engineering and 12+ years of relevant experience.

  • Citizenship – To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work.

  • Clearance – To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.

  • Must have experience with DOE facilities and fire protection in nuclear facilities.

  • Must have good analytical capability to resolve complex fire protection issues with code interpretation, applicability, and implementation.

  • Must have experience with Notifier voice fire alarm and detection, hybrid fire extinguishing systems, and fire hazards analysis preparation per DOE-STD-1066.

  • Must have experience in fire protection with underground facilities.

Desired Skills

  • NICET certifications.

The NNSA's Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) helps ensure the security of the United States and its allies by supporting the stewardship of the nuclear deterrent, providing emergency response capability and training, and contributing to key nonproliferation and arms control initiatives. It executes unique national-level experiments, supports national security customers, manages the legacy of the nuclear deterrent, and provide long-term environmental stewardship for site missions (energy.gov).
