PTS is looking for a Transmission Line Engineer to join an exception firm based in West Palm Beach. In this role you will work to produce detailed designs of 69- 500kV transmission line projects, prepare specifications, and assist with administrative functions. In this role the Transmission Line Engineer will utilize various design software tools such as PLSC CADD, MFAD, and LPile.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee construction activities to make sure everything's built according to plans, specs, and relevant codes. This might include serving as the Resident Engineer on smaller projects.
- Review plans, specs, and on-site conditions to make sure project design requirements are met, and adjust work plans as needed for unexpected site conditions.
- Track construction schedules to keep projects on time and running smoothly, recommending changes when necessary.
- Review, inspect, and approve equipment deliveries and contractor invoices to keep the financial side of the project on track.
- Conduct site visits for design checks, investigations, and to ensure contractors' methods meet project standards.
- Prepare project reports, feasibility studies, and updates for management as required.
- Take on roles as a project engineer or project manager, depending on the assignment.
- Maintain clear, organized records and keep information flowing efficiently between project teams, contractors, and clients.
- Stay familiar with company/client drawing systems, design standards, and applicable industry codes.
- Foster a collaborative, detail-oriented work environment with a focus on quality, customer needs, and adapting to evolving project standards.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program or a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program
- Successful completion the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
- A professional engineer's license is desired (State of Florida).
- 5+ years of Transmission Line design experience
- Strong understanding and knowledge of industry and national codes and standards, including but not limited to NEC, Life Safety Code NFPA 101, NFPA 70/70E, IEEE, and International Building Code.
- Experience with system design software, CADD, and Microsoft Office products required.
- MUST HAVE PLS-CADD WORK EXPERIENCE.
- Strong analytical and management skills.
- Ability to travel for site surveys, project scope walks, and meetings.
