Job Description:

Parsons is looking for a Structural Inspector, Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) and Steel projects located within an aviation environment in Austin, TX. The Inspector will be responsible for field verification, documentation, and coordination with contractors and stakeholders throughout the construction lifecycle.

This Structural Inspector will have the following responsibilities:

  • Structural Steel: Bolting, welding, high strength bolted connections, member alignment, coatings.
  • Reinforced Concrete: Placement, consolidation, curing, rebar size/spacing/cover, formwork, PT operations.
  • Prestressed/Post-Tensioned Concrete: Tendon installation, stressing, grouting, elongation verification.
  • Masonry: Reinforcement, grout, construction methods, lintels/bearing.
  • Foundations & Deep Foundations: Drilled shafts, piles, anchors; bearing capacity verification and integrity tests.
  • Coordinate and witness material testing (e.g., cylinders, weld tests, UT/MT/PT/NDT).

Seeking Candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the construction industry
  • Demonstrated aviation-related construction experience, including work on taxiways, runways, terminals, and/or underground utilities
  • Ability to pass a TSA criminal history background check
  • In-depth knowledge of environmental codes and regulatory requirements
  • Familiarity with discipline-specific codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IMC, IPC, SMACNA, IBC, IEEE)
  • Ability to interpret and coordinate with third-party inspection reports
  • Strong understanding of contract documents, technical specifications, and design standards
  • Valid Driver’s License

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Conduct field inspections to verify conformance with approved contract documents and applicable codes
  • Review contractor work for compliance with specifications, manufacturer instructions, and regulatory standards
  • Coordinate daily activities with third-party inspectors and project stakeholders, including ABIA Operations, Environmental teams, City inspectors, and AUS personnel
  • Document deficiencies and communicate findings to the Contractor, Construction Manager and CDS inspectors in a timely manner
  • Support Construction Managers in verifying installed quantities for Pay Applications
  • Maintain accurate daily inspection reports detailing work reviewed and observations made
  • Participate in change management processes and assist in schedule evaluations
  • Navigate and utilize project documentation including design drawings, specifications, Design Standards Manual, and contract terms
  • Occasional night-time work may be required based on project demands
