Summary: The Superintendent oversees day-to-day field operations on construction sites. The Superintendent is responsible for coordinating and supervising all onsite construction activities to ensure project success in terms of safety, schedule, quality, and budget. This position plays a key leadership role in managing subcontractors, self-perform crews, and ensuring smooth execution from groundbreaking through project closeout.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Field Leadership & Coordination
- Oversee and manage all field operations and on-site construction activities.
- Direct subcontractors, suppliers, and self-perform crews to maintain progress and productivity.
- Maintain strict adherence to project schedules, ensuring milestone and completion dates are met.
Scheduling & Logistics
- Develop and manage short-term look-ahead schedules in alignment with the master schedule.
- Coordinate delivery of materials, equipment, and resources to minimize downtime.
- Identify potential delays or issues and implement corrective actions in real time.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce company safety policies and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Conduct daily safety briefings, jobsite inspections, and ensure all workers have proper PPE.
- Document and report incidents, injuries, and near misses in accordance with company protocol.
Quality Assurance
- Ensure all construction activities adhere to plans, specifications, and quality standards.
- Conduct ongoing inspections and walkthroughs to identify and correct deficiencies.
- Coordinate testing, inspections, and third-party quality control as required.
Subcontractor Oversight
- Supervise subcontractor performance, ensuring scope, schedule, and quality compliance.
- Facilitate coordination between trades to avoid conflicts and schedule impacts.
- Review subcontractor work against plans and field conditions, and escalate discrepancies.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain daily logs documenting workforce, activities, weather, safety, and progress.
- Track and report issues, delays, and inspections to the Project Manager.
- Assist in managing RFI responses, field directives, and change orders.
Project Closeout
- Manage punch list completion, final inspections, and site demobilization.
- Support delivery of as-builts, O&M manuals, and final sign-off from ownership and authorities.
- Ensure jobsite is left clean, safe, and in compliance with contract requirements.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in construction with at least 3 years as a superintendent for a general contractor.
- Proven ability to manage commercial, residential, or institutional construction projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Procore� project management software and MS Project or Primavera P6 scheduling software.
- In-depth knowledge of construction means and methods, scheduling, and subcontractor coordination.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- OSHA 30, or ability to acquire, is required.
- First Aid/CPR, or ability to acquire, is required.
- State/local General Contractors license is preferred.
- LEED accreditation or familiarity with sustainable practices is preferred

Pay & Benefits:
The anticipated compensation range for the position is $90,000 to $120,000, is based on a full-time schedule, market and business conditions, and is commensurate on individual education, qualifications, and experience. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurances, flexible paid time off, paid holidays, sick time, and a matching 401K plan.
Work Conditions & Travel:
This is an on-site role at the project location. A highly collaborative environment that flourishes when individual and team contributions combine to achieve target goals and objectives. Multi-shift work may be required to accomplish work in active retail locations to meet aggressive schedules. Regularly required to sit; occasionally required to stand; walk; occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
