About the Role
The Contractor Consultants is now hiring on behalf of a leading underground utility and electrical contractor seeking a Construction Underground General Superintendent. This senior-level position will oversee all field operations for underground utility projects, including power, fiber, telecom, and lighting infrastructure.

You'll manage crews, subcontractors, materials, safety, and job site performance from start to finish. The ideal candidate is a seasoned construction leader with deep underground utility experience, strong communication skills, and a proven ability to lead field teams to successful, on-time, and safe project delivery.

Projects range from traffic signal systems and high mast lighting to airport lighting and fiber optic infrastructure. Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee all underground construction field operations
  • Manage and supervise multiple crews and subcontractors daily
  • Coordinate with Project Managers and Engineers to align field activity with plans and schedules
  • Ensure all safety protocols are followed and enforced on every job site
  • Review project blueprints, work plans, and scopes to plan efficient execution
  • Schedule materials, equipment, and labor needs
  • Conduct daily site walks, progress checks, and inspections
  • Provide technical guidance and on-site problem-solving
  • Track and report daily productivity, delays, and field conditions
  • Uphold quality standards and ensure compliance with local and state regulations

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of underground utility field experience (power, fiber, telecom, electrical trenching)
  • 2+ years in a Superintendent or high-level Foreman role
  • Deep knowledge of trenching, shoring, conduit, vaults, and utility installation practices
  • Familiarity with NDOT standards and public works processes preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and utility maps
  • OSHA 30 certification required (or ability to obtain)
  • Strong leadership, team-building, and communication skills
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
