We are seeking an experienced Utility Engineer Project Manager to join our team.   As a UEPM, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing a team of engineers, utility coordinators and inspectors.  Your role will involve coordinating with various stakeholders, ensuring schedules are met and ensuring successful completion of project. 

Your impact:

  • Assist with oversight of Lochner Texas Utility Engineering Department including managing personnel, budgeting and scheduling projects that include Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE), Utility Engineering including analysis of utility locations to determine conflicts with proposed construction and Utility Coordination for adjustment of utilities. Includes serving as Lochner Texas Utility Engineer providing expertise on utility engineering, highway design and construction projects.
  • Manage a team to deliver utility clearance on a challenging, large-scale TxDOT Interstate Project in the Austin, TX area. Tasks will include:
    • Lead the efforts of utility engineers, coordinators, SUE technicians and utility inspectors.
    • Apply knowledge of engineering in design of roadways, drainage and utility improvements for streets, highways, freeways and bridges to successfully accomplish utility projects and tasks.
    • Review of project documents and utility plans for adjustments.
    • Review technical documents such as Standard Utility Agreement packages, reimbursement documents, preliminary designs and project change orders that may involve utilities.
    • Communicate with Utility Owners concerning required adjustments, set schedules and conduct follow-up review.
    • Communicate with Lochner CEI team, TxDOT and contractor in problem solving and evaluating conflicts to determine appropriate solutions.
  • Take an active role in contract pursuits including, at times, researching and investigating projects, leading staff in writing proposals, ensuring RFQ requirements are met, and interviewing with potential clients, as needed.
  • Support engineering staff in the development of utility relocation design.
  • Clearly communicate work and ideas through drawings, documents, reports, and verbal exchange.
  • Oversee the production of layouts of existing or proposed improvements in Bentley OpenRoads Designer and coordinate details with design team members.
  • Coordinate with reviewers to ensure accuracy and quality of work.
  • Perform work within project deadlines.
  • Aid with the creation and submission of technical reports, specifications, and calculations.
  • Coordinate project assignments with those of other engineers and technicians in his/her discipline group.

 

Who you are:

  • B.S. degree in Engineering is required.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas is required.
  • 5+ years of experience, after attaining PE license, in leading a team as described above in utility management for conflict identification and clearance on transportation projects.
  • Experience in roadway, drainage and bridge design or construction engineering is a benefit.
  • PE experience working on TxDOT projects is desired.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written).
  • Ability to represent Lochner in meetings, conferences and interviews with potential clients.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to mentor engineers and technicians.
  • Experience using Bentley OpenRoads Designer software is a benefit.

Work Environment
