McAlvain Construction, a Big-D Company, has an opportunity for an experienced Vice President of Construction - Water/Wastewater to join our team of construction professionals based in the Boise, ID area.

Key Responsibilities:
- Strong background in Water & Wastewater Treatment (Water Renewal) Construction, possessing a comprehensive knowledge of construction project delivery, contracting, processes, materials, and regulations.
- Possess a strong understanding of treatment processes, technologies (e.g., activated sludge, membrane bioreactors, nutrient removal), and the specific construction challenges associated with these projects.
- Capable of doing comprehensive risk assessments and Go No-Go Analysis for project pursuits.
- Achieve goals and Key Performance indicators (KPI’s) at the department level.
- Strong grasp on cost controls and budget management and holds project teams accountable to project measurables and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
- Understanding of self-perform scopes of work typical to the Water & Wastewater Treatment (Water Renewal) industry.
- Experience with many different project delivery mechanisms, including alternative delivery mechanisms.
- Review owner contract terms and risks, outline and highlight risk items for Sr Leadership review.
- Experience leading and mentoring project teams.
- Anticipates potential risks and proactively implements mitigation strategies to minimize impact.
- Prioritizes tasks effectively and ensures deadlines are met.
- Demonstrates a keen ability to identify and develop talent.
- Disciplined with Project Controls. Assists with the development, management, and enforcement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) while encouraging adaptive change and continued evolution.
- Provide technical assistance, constructability feedback, interpret drawings, and develop construction methods consistent with contract documents, budget, and schedule on projects in preconstruction and during construction.
- Assists with project pursuits, developing schedules, site logistics, technical writing, and participating in selection interviews.
- Participate in purchasing and scheduling commitments with superintendent or project manager as necessary.
- Assist with development of corrective action plans and recovery plans for distressed projects.
- Exhibit ability to independently develop and audit project schedules at all phases of design development with vision toward identifying and communicating challenges and opportunities.
- Oversee project planning, coordination, and supervision of on-site functions (engineering, scheduling and coordination of material deliveries, subcontractors, equipment, and manpower requirements).
- Assist project teams in developing and implementing project procedures and standards.
- Reinforce, support, and train industry and company standards to produce consistent results.
- Provide strong, efficient, timely decision making to ensure procurement, submittal, or other project management functions are managed effectively.
- Establish and maintain relationships with team members, clients, project stakeholders, and support staff.
- Increase overall schedule awareness. Train, monitor, and measure Schedule Performance Indicators (SPIs).
- Participate in coordinating with other business unit leaders to support the continued improvement of the enterprise.
Experience and Education
- 4yr Bachelors Degree in Construction Management or Engineering
- Software: Bluebeam, Procore, Outbuild, Primavera
- Self-Perform Concrete Experience
- Minimum of 10-15 years’ experience as a project manager in charge or, 5 years’ leadership level experience
- (3) Three reference Water / Wastewater (Water Renewal) as the manager in charge. Only projects greater than $10-Mil in construction value excluding equipment costs and assignment contracts are considered
- Strong grasp of all building construction trades
- Skilled in Critical Path Method (CPM) Scheduling
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software
- Safety standards knowledge including OSHA 30 or greater
- Self-starter with the ability to set and ensure goals and tasks with strong leadership goals
