NOVA Engineering & Environmental is hiring a Regional Manager in our Kennesaw, GA corporate office. This manager is a key member of the operations leadership team who will drive results, spur growth and increase overall operations efficiency while supporting NOVA’s mission, vision, values and client service philosophy. The RM will plan, direct and oversee business operations in the region to optimize operating capabilities, hire and develop key talent, build and retain strong teams and maximize client satisfaction.

The RM will be responsible for ensuring the region’s operations are both profitable and sustainable. This position is key to the continued growth and the operational, financial, client satisfaction and safety success of the region. The Georgia region currently comprises five (5) branch offices and another project/contract laboratory in northern Georgia, over 250 full time staff, and annual gross revenue over $40M.

Services provided in Georgia include geotechnical engineering, construction inspection and materials testing, municipal building code plan review/permitting/inspections, building enclosure consulting and testing, and environmental consulting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish business and financial KPIs to deliver profitable growth and achievement of short-term and long-term business and financial results for the region.
  • Provide leadership to the region’s operations that aligns with the company’s business plan, mission, vision and values.
  • Devise tactics to reduce costs, increase revenues and maintain a high level of overall company performance and client satisfaction.
  • Build and maintain a team of knowledgeable, skilled, technical and client-focused employees and facilitate development through coaching, mentoring and training.
  • Collaborate with Branch Managers to identify high-potential employees, create professional development goals, and build career ladders to retain key employees.
  • Oversee risk management for the business operation, including review of operational contracts and legal matters.
  • Maintain awareness and exercise judgment in areas of market conditions, competitive activities, general economic conditions and governmental statutes and regulations
  • Build and support a safety-first culture that emphasizes employee health and wellness across all aspects of working at NOVA.
  • Establish and maintain an effective system of communication throughout the region.
  • Create and maintain relationships with community and industry leaders.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Branch Managers
  • Provide guidance and support of Business Development Associates
  • Regional Senior-level technical staff (currently two geotechnical and one
    environmental)

ATTRIBUTES, SKILLS, COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Masters Degree a plus
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure preferred
  • 15+ years of demonstrated, proven success in a senior leadership role for a multi-location Geotechnical/Testing/Environmental Consulting Firm (or a firm from a
    tangential industry)
  • Demonstrated success leading and developing a team through other leaders
  • Proven track record of increasing geographic, market sector and service line diversity
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in P&L oversight
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, team building and coaching, as well as the ability to motivate people, assess and develop employee skills
  • Intelligent and engaging individual whom is perceived as credible and competent and is articulate and respectful in relating to people at all organization levels
  • Excellent listening, negotiation, communication and presentation skills
  • Strong business acumen to oversee all aspects of the business operation
  • Organized, goal-oriented and decisive
  • Experience with process improvement initiatives
  • Builds a culture of work safety and lead by example with one’s own behavior
