Summary


The Yard Supervisor is a key member of ATMI-Indy's management team. This role is responsible for directly supervising yard foremen to meet daily production goals. The Yard Supervisor is accountable for guiding foremen and, through them, yard employees to achieve operational targets safely, efficiently, and on time.


Responsibilities

  • Supervise and plan production activities while establishing priorities that align with operational efficiency, cost targets, and overtime management
  • Maintain working knowledge of all yard functions and processes
  • Support management in developing, implementing, and sustaining department improvements and employee training initiatives
  • Model the behaviors expected of all employees, including attendance, punctuality, mutual respect, and commitment to teamwork and continuous improvement
  • Communicate daily with foremen and assistant foremen to plan and coordinate workflow
  • Coordinate with leadership to uphold safety programs, production volumes, project specifications, and delivery milestones
  • Direct and observe employees to ensure compliance with all safety and company policies
  • Document and conduct thorough investigations into safety incidents, disciplinary actions, and terminations
  • Complete weekly HR tasks including PTO approvals, timecard reviews, and accountability documentation
  • Identify opportunities to reduce overtime hours, labor, overhead, and material costs
  • Maintain inventory controls and manage material ordering to support on-time delivery
  • Ensure quality standards and housekeeping are maintained in all assigned areas
  • Manage employee work assignments and transfer personnel between areas as needed to support production schedules
  • Assist in coordinating shipping responsibilities
  • Make recommendations for hiring, transfers, promotions, and employee recognition
Requirements
  • Previous manufacturing or industrial experience required; experience in precast and prestressed concrete manufacturing strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the broader Microsoft Office suite required
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, direct, and prioritize tasks in a production environment
  • Experience in patching, grinding, and masonry
  • Logistical experience is a plus
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and move objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to climb on and off equipment, navigate stairs and ladders, and walk extended distances throughout an industrial facility
  • Must be comfortable working in outdoor conditions including inclement weather, heat, humidity, and exposure to dust

Schedule and Compensation

  • First shift; 3:30am EST start timeΒ 
  • 40+ hours per week; some weekends may be required
  • Salary dependent upon experience and credentials
  • Position is exempt
