Position Title: Aerial Construction Equipment Mechanic
Reports to: Fleet Service Manager

Privately held, fast-growing, well established, busy and profitable aerial lift re-rental & repair company has career opportunities available for two skilled and experienced Equipment Mechanics to repair, restore, and perform preventive maintenance on various pieces of aerial construction equipment. These positions are located at our Cleburne, TX repair facility.   

  • Are you a self-motivated individual with a high level of technical aptitude, able to diagnose equipment problems? 
  • Are you a mechanic skilled at troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining aerial equipment? 
  • Would you prefer to work less on dirt-moving equipment, and more on construction booms & material lifts?

USM ReRents (a division of US Markets, Inc.) is the leader in the re-rental of aerial construction lifts across the United States and Canada.  Our equipment includes large boom lifts, heavy-capacity telescoping material handlers, and spider lifts. US Markets is also the exclusive North American distributor of Falcon Spider Lifts.

We continue to grow!  Demand for quality rental equipment spurs our active search for two (2) shop mechanics to repair and perform preventive maintenance on (USM-owned) boom lifts, telehandlers and spider lifts so that these assets may again be rented out by the equipment yards throughout the South Central US.  

Role & Responsibilities

The Equipment Mechanics will diagnose, repair and perform preventative maintenance on articulating booms, ultra booms, spider lifts, and heavy-capacity & rotational telehandlers so that these assets may quickly be back in rental utilization.  

  • Perform initial repair inspections and operational tests of equipment
  • Perform repairs, service and preventive maintenance as required
  • Perform hydraulic, electrical and mechanical troubleshooting; running related diagnostics; rebuilding hydraulic cylinders, replacing worn/damaged parts and fluids
  • Create accurate repair lists with assistance of a Service Manager or Fleet Service Specialist
  • Perform ANSI-required annual (13-month) inspections

Requirements

  • 7-10 years' mechanic/repair experience
  • 4+ years' aerial equipment experience preferred
  • An intermediate or advanced level of hydraulics, mechanical and electrical troubleshooting; understanding of gas and diesel engines and electric motors
  • A valid drivers’ license (and a good driving record) 
  • A good work ethic and a positive attitude
  • A willingness to learn and grow their skills, and to apply technical training to real-world equipment needs
  • The ability to work in a safe manner
  • Demonstrated abilities to be organized and dependable
  • A consistency in producing quality workmanship.
  • The computer skills to effectively enter & transmit data; to open, read & respond to e-mail.

Preferred candidates will possess:

  • Construction equipment (or rental) industry experience
  • Knowledge of aerial/construction equipment, their application and safe use
  • Previous factory/manufacturer training and/or certification
  • Communication skills – the ability to positively interact with customers and to update and partner with your Fleet Service Manager
  • A commercial driver’s license is helpful

You will be required to complete online training where available. You will receive parts orders, assist with inventory, and help organize the shop and parts and tools.  You may assist with the purchasing of parts and with creating related purchase orders.

The first 90 days in the job: As the Cleburne shop is currently being remodeled and made ready for shop work, the Mechanic's first 90 days will be spent as a Field Service Technician, travelling (occasionally overnight) in a service truck to equipment rental yards in the region to repair and perform preventive maintenance and annual inspections upon USM-owned equipment in the field. Thereafter, the professional role will revert back to repair shop mechanic (perhaps with an occasional opportunity to work in the field).
