We are seeking an Application Engineer, SmartPlant to join our team supporting the DOE's Y-12 National Security Complex! This position is full-time and will be based out of Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
Responsibilities
Act as the SmartPlant Lead, responsible for the implementation and administration of the following Hexagon Smart tools/applications:
Smart 3D (currently used),
Smart P&ID (currently used),
Smart Sketch (currently used),
Smart Review (currently used),
Smart Reference Data (currently used),
Smart Instrumentation (planned for the future),
Smart Electrical (planned for the future), and
SmartPlant Foundation (planned for the future).
Interface with other professionals from Y-12 organizations including departments within Mission Engineering, IS&S, and others.
Help IS&S to maintain, streamline, and standardize requirements for software and hardware solutions ultimately strengthening the IT infrastructure for Mission Engineering.
Assist in the maintenance of application servers and databases.
Configure reference data based on specifications.
Develop workflow instructions.
Integrate these applications to work together to correlate and exchange data based on defined discipline roles and rules.
Gather requirements, develop project plans/budgets, and identify and manage risks related to assigned projects.
Integrate these applications with operation and facility management automation toolsets for data visualization and reporting to support configuration management and maintenance of operations.
Requirements
Education & Years of Experience – Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET Accredited University and 10+ years of relevant experience.
Citizenship – To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work.
Clearance – To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.
Must have experience using and administering the Hexagon Smart Suite of applications.
Must have a solid background in disciplines that focus on Computer Science and IT Architecture.
Must have experience in applying Design, Product, Process, and System Engineering principles.
Must be familiar with:
human factors,
configuration management,
database solutions,
data management,
product life cycle management,
system reliability,
electronic procedures, and
human interfaces.
Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Must desire to learn new concepts, seek out state of the art software and process solutions, and implement process improvements with minimal disruption to ongoing operations.

The NNSA's Y-12 National Security Complex, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, is the nation’s only source of enriched uranium nuclear weapon components and provides enriched uranium for the U.S. Navy as well as excels in materials science, precision manufacturing, and stores enriched uranium.
