The purpose of this position is to use established practices and guidelines applying technical knowledge, and direction as listed. This role has the responsibility to help promote Fluor’s competitiveness within the global marketplace by delivering quality services of unmatched value and technical competence.
This position reports to a Discipline Material Controller on assigned projects.
Has basic knowledge of Fluor practices and guidelines.
• Develop a basic understanding of the development of project estimates and project baselines.
• Develop a basic understanding of project execution including Change Management and how it affects the changes in material quantities.
• Develop a basic understanding of Forecasting.
• Develop the ability to read and interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) other discipline drawings, and manufacturer’s catalog data.
• Assists in expediting and the status of materials.
• Keeps the Project Discipline Engineer/Material Control Manager informed of the status of materials.
• Other duties as assigned.• Accredited four (4) year Industrial Distribution degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and no required previous years of work-related experience
• Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
• Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
• Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner• Prefer 3.0 GPA or higher
• Intern experience in related field preferred
• Engineer-in-Training achievement status accomplished
• Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability and cost of materials
• Practical field experience
• Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs• Possess working knowledge of and interpreting P&IDs, other discipline drawings, and
manufacturer’s catalog data.
• Review P&IDs, plot plans, transpositions, andmiscellaneous piping detailsto maintain and update
material takeoffs.
• With supervision, make valve and other piping component take-offs from P&IDs as instructed.
• With supervision, provide assistance to the download of 3D modeling data and import into the
MaterialManagerSM software.
• With supervision, provide assistance to the creation ofrequisitionsfor quote or purchase.
• With supervision, providematerial reportsto the project piping lead, other project team members,
or clients.
• With supervision, update project quantitiesfor changes to the baseline estimate or current project
design scope.
• Coordinate with the Material Engineer and Design Supervisor for scheduling of design support
activities.
