Position Overview
We are looking for a full-time Attorney with 3-7 years of experience in construction litigation to join our growing practice. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction defect cases and be able to handle complex litigation matters from inception through trial.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a diverse caseload of construction litigation matters, including construction defect claims, contract disputes, and insurance coverage issues.
- Conduct legal research and analysis to support case strategies and arguments.
- Draft and review pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
- Prepare and respond to discovery requests, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission.
- Conduct depositions of fact witnesses, expert witnesses, and corporate representatives.
- Participate in mediation and arbitration proceedings.
- Represent clients in court hearings, trials, and appeals.
- Negotiate settlements and draft settlement agreements.
- Collaborate with expert witnesses, including architects, engineers, and construction professionals.
- Advise clients on risk management and contract negotiation strategies.
- Stay current on relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends affecting construction litigation.
- Mentor junior attorneys and paralegals on construction litigation matters.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
- Contribute to business development efforts and participate in client pitches.
Qualifications
Required:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
- Active membership in good standing with the State Bar
- 3-7 years of experience in construction litigation, with a focus on construction defect cases
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines
- Experience with e-discovery platforms and legal research tools
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred:
- Experience in insurance defense litigation
- Knowledge of construction industry standards and practices
- Familiarity with alternative dispute resolution methods in construction cases
- Experience with construction-related contract review and negotiation
- Strong academic credentials
