Brown County Schools is seeking a skilled and passionate Construction Teacher to lead our high school and middle school construction programs. This position will introduce students to the fundamentals of construction, with a focus on home building, safety procedures, and hands-on project work. The ideal candidate will bring industry experience in home construction and a commitment to preparing students for careers in skilled trades.
Develop and teach an engaging construction curriculum for both high school and middle school students.
Provide hands-on learning experiences in areas such as carpentry, framing, roofing, and other essential home-building skills.
Emphasize workplace safety, tool handling, and construction site best practices.
Integrate industry trends and emerging technologies into lessons.
Collaborate with local businesses, trade organizations, and apprenticeship programs to create career pathways for students.
Maintain a safe and organized classroom and workshop environment.
Support students in industry certifications and skill competitions.
Work with school administrators and fellow educators to align course objectives with career and technical education (CTE) goals.
Preferred: Industry experience in home building, construction management, or a related trade.
Preferred: Teaching certification in Career and Technical Education (CTE) or willingness to obtain an Indiana teaching license.
Strong knowledge of residential construction processes and techniques.
Ability to instruct students of varying skill levels, from beginners to advanced learners.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Passion for mentoring and inspiring students in construction careers.
