Job Summary:
A CDL Class A Truck Driver is an entry-level position. At a minimum, the individual must hold a Class A CDL Driver’s license. Drivers also follow appropriate safety procedures and maintain logs of vehicle repair status and working hours. The CDL Class A Truck Driver works under direct supervision and is expected to work long hours and be subject to working weekends and holidays.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
• Fully understand how to operate and safely drive your assigned vehicle.
• Drive vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 lbs.
• Pick up and safely transport goods, materials, etc. to the assigned destination.
• Ensure contents are properly secured in a truck flatbed to prevent damage/injury.
• Obtain signatures to confirm and complete deliveries, as required.
• Assist in mapping driving routes.
• Stay on a predetermined route and ensure timely transport and delivery.
• Contact Supervisor when breakdowns occur & notify managers of any major maintenance or delivery issues encountered.
• Confirm that the contents of each shipment load match the manifest document.
• Perform inspections of your vehicle prior to and following each trip.
• Check weather conditions and road reports before departure.
• Maintain and service vehicle as needed (refuel, change oil, tire pressure, repairs, etc.) and ensure vehicle(s) are maintained clean.
• Follow the delivery schedule and rest at appropriate times.
• Maintain detailed driving and delivery logs, track, and report working hours
• Communicate with dispatch as needed.
• Adhere to company rules and regulations.
• Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive according to the weather/road conditions.
• Comply with OSHA, ICC, and DOT regulations.
• Regular attendance is required according to company policy to ensure the crew can operate at the normal efficiency level.
• Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and policies while promoting the company’s safety culture.
• Perform other duties of a similar or related nature as assigned.



Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:
• Clean driving record with no violations, and must be able to clear a background check and drug screen.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations pertaining to commercial vehicles.
• Able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• High level of composure and good stress management.
• Alert, focused, and detail-oriented.
• Ability to push/pull 80+ lbs.
• Ability to lift/carry 80+ lbs.
• Physical strength and stamina to perform manual labor tasks such as loading and unloading materials.

Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
• Valid Class A driver’s license and Medical Card required.
• HAZMAT endorsement preferred.
• 2+ years of proven experience driving in a construction environment preferred.

Physical Requirements:
• Frequent walking on uneven surfaces, including ground in varying weather conditions.
• Physical fitness and stamina to operate heavy equipment, perform manual labor, and work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions.
• Regular exposure to outdoor environment with machinery/equipment in the surrounding area.
• Exposure to outdoor environment with machinery/equipment in the surrounding area.
• Must be able to push/pull 80+ lbs.
• Must be able to lift/carry 80+ lbs.
• Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the outdoor elements.
• May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
• May stoop, kneel, or bend on a frequent basis.
• May climb stairs or ladders, etc., on a regular basis.
• Exposure to extreme heat or cold external temperatures
• Frequent sitting along with frequent standing and moving activity.
• Able to wear personal protective equipment, including but not limited to steel-toe shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, vest, etc.
• Able to safely operate commercial and/or motor vehicles.

This position routinely requires the use of personal and/or company vehicles on company business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license, and maintain an acceptable driving record. Employees in this position may be subject to random Motor Vehicle Record and alcohol and drug testing as a condition of continued employment.
