    JOB TITLE: Ceramic Tile Technician

     

    DUTY DAYS: 240

     

    PAY GRADE: N06

    PRIMARY PURPOSE:

     

     

     

         Maintain (repair or replacement) of all floor surfaces in a manner consistent  with PISD standards

     

     

     

     

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

     

           Education/Certification:           

     
    • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
    • Must have valid TExas driver's license and meet and maintain insurance requirements of PISD
    • Must pass initial drug test and be part of a random drug testing program
    • Must pass criminal history check
     

          Special Knowledge/Skill Experience

     
    • Must be able to recognize asbestos file or know which floor material may contain asbestos
    • General knowledge of tools used in designated craft
    • Minimum five years flooring experience preferred
     

     

     

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

     
    1. Repair of and installation of ceramic tile.
    2. Repair of underlying framing and wallboard needed for ceramic tile installation
    3. Installation of vinyl composition tile.
    4. Assist in installation of all flooring.
    5. Coordinate project assignments with other personnel such as plumbers, electricians, and carpenters as required.
    6. Must have working knowledge of computer systems in regards to email, time entry and work orders.
    7. Must be willing to become a licensed asbestos worker.
    8. Prepare cost estimates for projects.
    9. Must be willing to respond to occasional after hour emergencies.
    10. Assist other crafts as needed.
    11. Perform other duties as required.

           Ability to communicate effectively (verbal); maintain emotional control under stress; interpret policy, procedures, and data; coordinate district functions

     

     

     

           Physical Demands/Environment Factors:

     

     

     

            Strenuous walking, standing, climbing, and heavy lifting, must have use of all faculties. Must be able to work from ladders and elevated platforms. Work outside. Exposure to hot and cold temperature. Exposure to dust, toxic chemicals, and materials. May work on slippery and uneven surfaces.
