Position Overview
We are looking for a Construction Associate with 3-5 years of experience in construction litigation and related matters. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction law, excellent analytical and writing skills, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle all aspects of construction litigation, including drafting pleadings, motions, and briefs
- Conduct legal research and analysis on complex construction law issues
- Prepare and respond to discovery requests
- Assist in the preparation and presentation of cases for trial, arbitration, or mediation
- Participate in client meetings and provide legal advice on construction-related matters
- Review and analyze construction contracts, plans, and specifications
- Assist in the negotiation and drafting of construction contracts and related documents
- Manage case files and maintain accurate and up-to-date records
- Stay current with developments in construction law and industry trends
- Collaborate with senior attorneys and other team members on complex cases
- Attend site visits and inspections as needed
- Assist in the development of client relationships and business development initiatives
Qualifications | Required:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
- Active membership in good standing with the state bar
- 3-5 years of experience in construction litigation or related practice areas
- Strong knowledge of construction law, contracts, and industry practices
- Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills
- Proficiency in legal research tools such as Westlaw or LexisNexis
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines effectively
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred:
- Experience with construction defect litigation
- Familiarity with alternative dispute resolution processes in construction cases
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations
- Experience with construction project management software
- Background in engineering, architecture, or construction management
