Construction Estimator

POSITION SUMMARY
The Construction Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction projects. This role analyzes project plans, specifications, labor requirements, materials, and equipment to determine total project costs. The estimator works closely with project managers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure bids are complete, competitive, and aligned with project requirements. The Construction Estimator plays a key role in supporting successful project planning, budgeting, and execution.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents to understand project scope and requirements.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and other project expenses.
- Perform quantity takeoffs from construction drawings and specifications.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids.
- Compare vendor and subcontractor proposals to ensure best value and project alignment.
- Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
- Collaborate with project managers and operations teams to review project feasibility and constructability.
- Identify potential project risks, cost impacts, and opportunities for savings.
- Prepare and submit competitive bid proposals within required deadlines.
- Maintain accurate documentation of estimates, bid packages, and supporting materials.
- Assist with project budgeting, value engineering, and cost analysis.
- Track historical cost data to improve estimating accuracy.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits when required.
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
- Office-based position with occasional site visits.
- May require extended hours during bid deadlines.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred, OR a minimum of 3–5 years of relevant estimating experience in construction or a similar industry.
- Experience preparing project bids and cost estimates.
COMPENSATION
- Base Salary: $105K
- Performance Bonus: Participation In Company Profit Sharing Program
- Long-Term Incentive: Optional retention or program success compensation
