Job Description

Summary

The Construction Foreman is responsible for coordinating and supervising field construction activities to ensure projects are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule. This role leads field crews, operates equipment, and oversees daily jobsite operations while maintaining compliance with safety standards and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily work of construction crews, including journeymen, apprentices, and laborers.
  • Operate heavy equipment such as backhoes, drill rigs, bucket trucks, ditch witch machines, and other mobile equipment.
  • Transport materials, equipment, and supplies using company vehicles.
  • Use hand and power tools, measuring devices, and construction equipment to complete assigned tasks.
  • Measure and mark work areas and ensure accurate layout according to project plans.
  • Assist with the setup and removal of scaffolding, barricades, ramps, and other temporary structures.
  • Monitor jobsite safety, conduct routine inspections, and ensure compliance with safety requirements.
  • Load and unload building materials, tools, and machinery as needed.
  • Plan daily work activities, assign tasks to crew members, and monitor progress.
  • Ensure necessary materials, tools, and equipment are available prior to starting work.
  • Inspect construction work to ensure it meets specifications and quality standards.
  • Maintain daily reports related to personnel, equipment, and production activities.
  • Assist crew members with construction work when needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of construction experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a lead or supervisory role.
  • Valid Class C driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in highway or heavy civil construction.
  • Previous Foreman experience.
  • Valid Texas Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
  • Bilingual Spanish/English.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, tools, and equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand construction plans and drawings.
  • Basic computer skills including email and construction software.
  • Strong leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to provide clear instructions and effectively supervise a crew.

Work Environment

Work is primarily performed outdoors and may involve exposure to noise, dust, fumes, extreme temperatures, moving equipment, and other construction-related hazards.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to operate heavy equipment and construction tools.
  • Frequent lifting up to 50 pounds, with team lifting for heavier items.
  • Standing, walking, climbing, and working on uneven terrain for extended periods.
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
  • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
