CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Construction Inspector serves as a technical representative responsible for evaluating construction sites by reviewing and interpreting plans and specifications, monitoring materials and workmanship, and ensuring all safety requirements are met in accordance with organizational policies and procedures. This role supports both internal and external customers by assisting with studies, plans, and analytical efforts, participating in research activities, and occasionally presenting recommended approaches to address customer needs. The position also contributes to the development, programming, and maintenance of project plans involving new construction, renovations, and infrastructure improvements. While no specialized engineering or architectural degree is required, candidates with construction safety certifications such as OSHA's 30‑hour program are preferred. Prior experience inspecting high‑security or large‑scale projects, such as SCIF facilities, military dormitories, or construction efforts exceeding $10M, is considered highly valuable.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inspecting construction sites as a technical representative
  • Responsible for reading and interpreting plans and specifications
  • Inspecting materials and workmanship
  • Insuring safety requirement of construction projects in accordance with organization policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the preparation of studies, plans, & analyses in support of internal & external customers.
  • Participate in research efforts in support of studies & analyses.
  • May have to present & discuss approaches to meeting customer needs.
  • Evaluate, develop, program, prepare, maintain and recommend programs for new construction, renovation, and improvements of real property facilities and infrastructures project programs

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Specialized education such as degrees from accredited programs as an engineering, architect, or related field are not required.
  • Certification through construction safety programs such as OSHA's 30-hour program are preferred.
  • History of inspecting construction projects in Secure Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF), military dorm, and construction projects greater than $10M is preferred
