SCI Engineering is a multi-discipline firm offering a variety of services from the design development stage through construction. We specialize in Geotechnical, Environmental, Natural Resources, Cultural Resources and Construction Material Testing services.  SCI currently has offices in San Antonio, TX; Austin TX; and Eagle Pass, TX.

 

SCI Engineering, Inc. is currently seeking a highly-motivated, Civil Engineer with at least 8 years of experience in the construction material testing industry. The ideal candidate for this position has an appreciation for excellent client service, desire to lead by example and a passion for training. We want to hire someone with an established history of successful project management, a commitment to technical excellence and the ability to develop and maintain relationships with our clients.

Essential Functions

 

General Characteristics

  • Applies a thorough knowledge of current principles and practices as related to the variety of aspects affecting the organization.
  • Applies knowledge and expertise acquired through progressive experience to resolve crucial issues and/or unique conditions.
  • Keeps informed of new methods and developments affecting the organization.
  • Works on major projects or several projects with complex features.

 

Technical Responsibilities

  • Serves as the technical specialist for Construction Material Testing related concepts and practices in Texas.
  • Keeps informed of new developments and requirements affecting the organization for the purpose of recommending changes in programs or applications.
  • Interprets, organizes, executes, and coordinates assignments.

 

Managerial Responsibilities

  • Oversight of multiple Construction Material Testing laboratories in Texas.
  • Supervises a staff of engineers, scientists, technicians, and administrative staff.
  • Plans, schedules, or coordinates the preparation of documents or activities for multiple major projects or is responsible for an entire program of an organization.
  • Reviews operational procedures to ensure compliance with application policies and performance measures.

 

Client Responsibilities

  • Knows and understands the characteristics and needs of the client as well as the client’s objectives.
  • Seeks out client interaction.
  • Develops client relationships.
  • Uses client interactions to look for cross-selling opportunities.
  • Acts as the Client Champion, responsible for all aspects of the client’s needs.

 

Financial Responsibilities

  • Responsible for financial management of Construction Material Testing projects, staff, and equipment.

 

Business Development Responsibilities

  • Seeks out business opportunities with potential clients.
  • Seeks out networking opportunities where interaction with potential clients will be optimum, with internal reporting accomplished.
  • Provides presentations to clients/potential clients.

 

Qualifications

  • BS degree, Civil/Geotechnical Engineering
  • PE License Required
  • Excellent writing, organizational, and communications skills are essential
  • Must be personable and able to communicate with clients and staff at all levels
  • This position requires critical thinking and analysis; frequent sitting, standing, walking, and bending; working in all weather conditions; and driving to and from project sites.
