The Construction Project Manager at Hoosier Company, Inc. oversees traffic signal, roadway signage, and lighting construction projects from kickoff through completion, ensuring all work meets safety standards, design specifications, budget, and schedule expectations. This role collaborates closely with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams and maintains consistent communication with field leadership to ensure project alignment. The Project Manager tracks progress on various projects while upholding industry standards and strengthening customer relationships.
Essential Functions
- Implement, promote, and uphold all safety policies and procedures
- Oversee construction activities to ensure projects meet design requirements, budget goals, and schedule expectations
- Ensure compliance with all company, client, and project policies, procedures, and standards, interpreting guidelines as needed
- Partner with Estimating teams to support bid preparation and project planning
- Participate in project kickoff, pre‑construction, and scheduling meetings
- Provide guidance to planning, scheduling, and engineering functions
- Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and support proactive resolution
- Track quantities and job costs using project management software and review associated data for accuracy
- Approve daily time and quantity entries in project management software
- Prepare construction plans and documentation for field teams
- Coordinate required permits and utility locates prior to work
- Prepare and submit shop drawings for approval
- Procure project-specific materials and track deliveries to meet schedule requirements
- Prepare material tickets and maintain accurate records
- Oversee survey and layout activities as required
- Conduct regular jobsite visits to assess performance and provide operational support
- Maintain consistent communication with project leadership and field teams
- Prepare monthly billings and review job reports for accounting
- Stay current on industry specifications, standards, and best practices
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and project partners
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance to field personnel
- Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to continuously growing in alignment with the Company’s core values, competencies, and skills.
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree n Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field required
Experience Qualifications
- Prior experience or an internship in highway or electrical construction
- Demonstrated success overseeing large scale project budgets ($1M+) and managing multiple concurrent projects
Skills and Abilities
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organization
- Ability to read and interpret design drawings and specifications
- Familiarity with construction contracts, change orders, and purchase orders
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, estimating software, and project management software
- Proven ability to oversee projects from initiation to completion and effectively coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and field crews
Licenses and Certifications
- Valid driver's license and ability to remain qualified for company vehicle program required
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
- This position requires a balanced 50/50 mix of in‑office work and travel within a typical local territory of up to 50 miles, with travel distances varying as needed based on business and client requirements
- Frequent travel to active traffic signals, roadway signs, roadway lighting and intelligent transportation systems projects across project regions
- Ability and willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow
- Regular exposure to high‑traffic areas, construction equipment, noise, and uneven terrain, requiring situational awareness and adherence to all safety procedures
- Routine movement around job sites, including walking, standing, bending, climbing, and navigating rough surfaces
- Occasional need to lift or carry materials and job-related documents
- Frequent in-person coordination with field teams, requiring presence on job sites as needed to support operations
- Ability to drive to and from project sites, meetings, vendors, and other work locations
- Periodic extended hours during peak project phases to meet deadlines or respond to field needs
