The Staff Pad is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Project Manager with a strong background in underground utility construction. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing commercial and municipal utility projects and be able to handle a fast-paced, aggressive work environment.

This position is not suited for candidates with only vertical construction, franchise utilities, dry utilities (fiber optic, gas, etc.), or TxDOT-only experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee POs, subcontracts, and project buyouts
  • Manage pay applications, change orders, and material procurement
  • Track project schedules, contract timelines, and budget performance
  • Resolve job site disputes and ensure smooth field operations
  • Conduct weekly coordination meetings and subcontractor management
  • Oversee contract administration whether as a subcontractor or prime contractor
  • Monitor subcontractor payment applications and collections
  • Maintain document control and project documentation

Qualifications & Experience

  • Extensive underground utility experience – preferably in commercial or municipal projects
  • Experience with DOT drainage work is acceptable but not primary focus
  • Strong knowledge of budget tracking, scheduling, and contract management
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to shifting priorities
  • Must be a self-starter who can step in and contribute immediately
  • Preferably seeking either:
    • A mid-career professional looking for growth opportunities
    • A senior-level PM who can take charge from Day 1

Compensation & Benefits

  • Truck Rent Allowance: $900/month (non-taxable)
  • Bonuses: $10K in the first year (based on company & individual performance)
  • 401K: 50% match up to 6% of salary
  • Health Insurance: 75% company-paid for employees, spouse & up to 3 dependents (additional children covered at no cost)
  • Paid Weekly: Every Friday
  • Vacation: 2 weeks per year, increasing to 3 weeks after 8 years
  • Fuel: 100% covered for in-town travel
  • Equipment Provided: Laptop, phone, iPad, and air card as needed
