The Construction Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day field operations for telecom construction projects, including aerial, underground, and fiber optic installations. This role ensures projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with company standards, customer specifications, and local regulations.
The Construction Supervisor manages subcontractors and field crews, coordinates with project management, and maintains quality control throughout the project lifecycle.
Supervise and coordinate field crews and subcontractors performing telecom construction activities (aerial, underground, fiber splicing, drop installation).
Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company safety policies, OSHA standards, and local/state regulations.
Monitor production progress and ensure project timelines and milestones are met.
Conduct site inspections to verify quality of work and compliance with construction drawings and specifications.
Review and interpret prints, maps, staking sheets, and utility locates (Miss Utility/Miss Dig/811).
Coordinate material deliveries and equipment needs for assigned projects.
Maintain daily production reports and provide updates to Construction Manager and Project Management team.
Address and resolve field issues, permitting concerns, and right-of-way challenges.
Ensure proper restoration and clean-up of job sites.
Communicate effectively with customers, municipalities, and internal stakeholders.
Track subcontractor performance and ensure adherence to contract terms.
3+ years of experience in telecom construction (fiber, coax, aerial, underground).
Prior supervisory or crew lead experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of:
Fiber optic installation and splicing
Directional drilling and underground construction
Aerial strand and cable placement
Utility locating and 811 processes
Ability to read and interpret construction prints and fiber maps.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Experience with project tracking systems and photo documentation tools.
Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required).
Strong leadership and team management skills
Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to work in outdoor environments and travel locally as needed
Primarily field-based
Exposure to outdoor weather conditions
May require evening or weekend work based on project demands
