Description

SUMMARY:


The Construction Project Supervisor plans, organizes, and coordinates projects under construction. She/he is responsible for the personnel, quality, sourcing trades, estimating, and customer service.      


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:


  • Assists Project Engineers &/or Architect by managing all aspects of construction project from pre-construction meeting to issuance of Certificate of Occupancy 
  • Reviews and coordinate all construction services and activities to ensure the project is on time as per project schedule and on budget
  • Meet with designers, and construction team to discuss build-out specifications and improvements 
  • Resolves differences in plan interpretation and specifications
  • Create estimates for construction projects, including labor, supplies, materials and other ancillary costs 
  • Reviews and ensures any potential change order costs are justified as needed
  • Drive cost-effective project management techniques and strategies in the field 
  • Maintain strict build-out construction schedule and make changes as necessary to ensure deadlines are met 
  • Attends pre-construction meetings and construction and actively participates 
  • Ensures a safe jobsite environment 


Requirements

EDUCATION:

Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Construction Management, or related field; or comparable experience.  


EXPERIENCE:

Must have at least five (5) years supervisory experience in residential, commercial or industrial construction.


SKILLS:

Must have the following skills and/or abilities:

  • Proficient in Windows operating systems and associated software 
  • Proficient in reading and understanding construction plans, designs, and specifications
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Must have the ability to resolve issues in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Experience working on smartphones and tablets 
  • Ability to work with numerous contractors and sub-contractors in an efficient manner 
  • Extensive knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and mechanical construction
  • Extensive knowledge of utility installation and requirements
  • Considerable knowledge of overall building code, regulations, and laws
  • Considerable knowledge of concrete tilt wall construction and conventional construction techniques
  • Considerable knowledge of steel construction techniques 
  • CAD experience a plus 


LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

Must have a current Texas driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record. 


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to perform the following physical activity on a frequent to constant basis:

  • Sit for long periods of time while gathering, updating, and validating vendor or supplier cost information or performing other related activities.
  • Lift 10–20 lbs. of files, plans, office supplies, or similar items. 
  • Constantly uses fingers and hands when dialing/answering the telephone and operating a computer or other office machinery, such as a copy machine, scanner, and computer printer.
  • Ability to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information through verbal communications in person or detect objects in and around job site over the telephone.
  • Average, ordinary visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents; operate a computer or other office machinery; or.
  • Walk short distances on slippery, even, and/or uneven surfaces.
  • Stand, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, turn, or crawl.
  • Climb and balance on stairs, metal/wooden beams, concrete form work, ladders, or other structures/elevated areas.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Daily job site visits involve performing work in outdoor weather conditions with exposure to extreme cold, heat, and noise depending upon project site; and may also include the following:

? dust, fumes, cleaning chemicals, and/or other harsh/hazardous solvents or disinfectants   

? electrical components, power lines, or other electrical hazards

? rebar, blades, or other sharp objects/tools 

? high elevations, trenches, or crawl spaces

  • Travel locally during the workday between jobsites, although some out-of-area travel may be expected with seldom overnight travel.

  • Adhere to and perform functions according to company and OSHA safety guidelines.
  • Wear personal protective equipment as required such as steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, vest, and the like while conducting job site visits.
  • Maintain regular, timely, and predictable attendance.
