Tasks
Internal Operations
- Manage construction and construction personnel in multiple communities
- Achieve goals and enforce controls for cycle time, quality and costs
- Promote all technology and processes set in place
- Provide a strong day-to-day leadership presence
- Manage, Mentor and Train multiple Construction Managers
- Implement process improvement measures
- Promote collaboration with all other functional areas of the business
- Provide advice, guidance and strategic direction to the Construction Manager team
- Assist with development and execution of the annual business plan
- Maintain a strong field presence
Business Development
- Ensure critical participation with tactics to drive cost and product performance goals
- Understand and apply disciplined root cause analysis and conduct real time construction reviews focused on key performance metrics
- Promote collaboration with all other functional areas of the business
Leadership
- Drive construction results daily
- Manage construction department
- Ensure employees have clear direction and goals
- Coach and mentor employees
- Ensure outcomes and deliverables are complete
- Set policies and procedures as needed
- Ensure organization is compliant and reduce financial risk
- Promote strong relationships with trade partners
- Promote job safety and encourage safe working practices with all employees and trade contractors
- A good listener and able to be helpful in conflict resolutions between employees, other trade contractors, material suppliers and any other agencies should it be required
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge
- Deep understanding of high production homebuilding
- Proven track record with an emphasis on operational excellence and continuous improvement
- Strong background in all aspects of construction and management
- Exceptional leadership and decision-making skills
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills with keen attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Effective working relationships with others both inside and outside their team
- Excellent computer skills with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office package and scheduling tools
- Strong knowledge in technology and use for proficiency
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree; experience in lieu of degree may be accepted
- Minimum 10 years of construction management experience
