Our client is a rapidly growing manufacturer in the commercial construction space, providing innovative products to sectors such as data centers, hospitals, and K-12 schools. This is a high-impact player-coach role that starts with direct business development responsibilities and transitions over time into a strategic leadership position. The Director of Sales will manage a small internal team and a national network of third-party manufacturerβs reps, while spearheading go-to-market efforts and expanding the companyβs customer base.
Position: Director of Sales
Compensation: $150,000β$180,000 base + bonus + benefits
Location: Dallas (Remote) + 40% travel to clients (most be close to a major airport)
Key Responsibilities
- Drive new business development across key verticals including data centers, healthcare, and education.
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans, including setting clear goals, metrics, and market approaches.
- Manage, coach, and grow the internal sales team, setting performance targets and conducting regular reviews.
- Oversee ~20 independent rep firms nationwide, ensuring alignment with company standards and strategy.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with architects, engineers, building owners, and other key stakeholders.
- Partner with marketing to develop and execute targeted campaigns.
- Track competitive activity and market trends to adapt strategies in real time.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows.
Requirements
- 7+ years of sales experience, ideally in construction materials or building systems.
- Proven success in leadership roles with a strong hunter mindset.
- Experience launching new products and developing go-to-market strategies.
- Existing relationships with architects, specifiers, and construction industry influencers preferred.
- Background in data center markets is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Construction, or related field.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- CRM proficiency and ability to lead in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Willingness to travel up to 40%.
