We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team supporting the DOE's Y-12 National Security Complex! This position is full-time and will be based out of Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
Responsibilities
Provide specialized knowledge in the field of electrical engineering, designing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems within the facility.
Work on intricate electrical systems including power distribution, control systems, instrumentation, and specialized equipment.
Create detailed electrical drawings and specifications for new installations or modifications to existing systems, including power distribution, lighting, control systems, and motor controls.
Evaluate existing electrical systems to identify potential issues, capacity limitations, and safety concerns, recommending upgrades or modifications as needed.
Support electrical engineering aspects of projects, including budget management, schedule adherence, and coordinating with other engineering disciplines and construction teams.
Ensure all electrical systems and practices comply with relevant Department of Energy (DOE) safety standards and nuclear regulatory requirements.
Diagnose and resolve electrical issues within the facility, performing preventative maintenance on critical electrical equipment.
Perform quality checks on electrical installations and documentation to maintain high standards.
Ensure electrical systems are designed and operated with the highest safety standards to prevent accidents.
Requirements
Education & Years of Experience – Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET-Accredited University and 2+ years of relevant experience.
Citizenship – To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work.
Clearance – To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance.
Must have an understanding of electrical engineering principles, including power systems, circuit analysis, and control systems.
Must have experience with electrical design software.
Must be familiar with relevant electrical and engineering safety standards and regulations (preferably within the federal nuclear industry).
Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
Desired Skills
Current PE (Professional Engineer) License in the state of Tennessee.
Experience in a NRC or DOE regulated environment.
Experience utilizing Rockwell Automation software (RSLogix, FactoryTalk View, etc.).
Experience utilizing the approved methods of construction for safety to persons and property complying with:
NFPA 70,
National Electrical Code,
IEEE C2,
National Electrical Safety Code, and
29 CFR 1910, Subpart S, Electrical.
