Field Engineer at Shiel Sexton

The Field Engineer will be responsible for on-site technical and subject matter support. You will act as a link between Project Management, Quality, Safety, and Superintendent. Responsibilities will include managing daily operations, material management, enforcing safety, inspecting work quality, compliance, and critical problem solving.

Responsibilities

  • Partners with other Engineers, Project Managers and/or Superintendents to coordinate and distribute all project information
  • Works with the project team to ensure all contract documents, including logs, are up to date
  • Ensures status reports on RFIs, submittals and other documents are prepared and presented
  • Participates in reviewing scopes of work for bid packages
  • Reviews contractors' startup documents (submittals, contract compliance, etc.)
  • Works with Lead Superintendent for trade contractor responsibilities throughout project
  • Participates in Schedule Updates and Pull Plans
  • Works collaboratively with field team to ensure milestone dates are met
  • Coordinates and manages general conditions work and project logistics
  • Prepares and contributes to daily reports
  • Provides input and suggestions for trade contractor daily and weekly meetings
  • Assists with Time and Materials (T&M) process and change management
  • May be required to assist with tasks typically assigned to more junior positions
  • Promotes organizational change initiatives, suggests new ideas, and continuously adapts to work within new structures and processes

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

  • 1-2 years of experience or internships with a construction organization
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Some knowledge of commercial/institutional construction projects
  • Excellent problem solving skills and ability to adapt to changing needs
  • Knowledge of Procore
  • Good capabilities in Microsoft Office programs
  • Strong technical and communication skills are critical
  • Construction-document and drawing literate
