Department: Field Service – Drilling Equipment
Reports To: Service Manager

We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Field Service Technician – Drill Mechanic to join our Construction Equipment Division. In this role, you’ll specialize in repairing and maintaining Sandvik drill rigs and other drilling equipment at customer job sites across the region.
You’ll be part of one of the most experienced machinery support teams in the western U.S., helping us uphold our promise of reliable, expert service in the field.
Travel to customer sites to diagnose, service, and repair Sandvik drills and other drilling equipment
Perform mechanical repairs, preventative maintenance, and full rebuilds of drilling machinery
Disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble components to factory standards
Use diagnostic tools and follow OEM specifications and service procedures
Identify damaged or worn parts, and order replacements as needed
Conduct troubleshooting on hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems
Submit warranty reports and recommend warranty coverage for applicable repairs
Perform minor welding, fabrication, plumbing, and DC electrical work
Supervise or support junior technicians in the field when necessary
Maintain clean, safe, and organized workspaces (including service trucks)
Complete accurate service documentation and reports
Coordinate parts orders and manage work orders, including revenue and warranty jobs
Respond to service calls and keep customers updated on repair progress and job status
Assist with special projects as assigned
Assist Service Manager with admin or support tasks as needed
Keep service truck and tools organized and in good condition
Class A CDL required
Experience with Sandvik drills or similar drill rigs (preferred)
Solid understanding of heavy equipment repair, especially drilling systems
Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word; other MS Office tools helpful
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Ability to operate basic office equipment (computer, fax, copier)
Lift 50+ lbs frequently
Navigate uneven terrain at job sites
Operate hand and power tools
Climb in/out of large drilling equipment
Stand, kneel, bend, and work under equipment as needed
Use communication tools (radio, phone, in person)
Listen for mechanical issues or safety alerts
