DescriptionThis position is responsible for operating a heavy-duty haul truck to transport heavy construction equipment to and from construction sites. The ideal candidate should have experience operating haul trucks, construction equipment, and trailers, including lowboys and dovetails. A valid commercial driver's license (CDL) class A, and a strong commitment to safety and efficiency.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Operate heavy-duty haul truck and trailer to transport heavy construction equipment to, from, and within jobsites.
- Load and unload heavy construction equipment, such as loaders, excavators, motor-graders, pavers, rollers, cranes, etc., and secure loads for transport.
- Follow established routes, schedules, and safety protocols to transport equipment safely and efficiently while adhering to traffic laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Inspect haul truck, trailer, equipment, and loads before and after each trip, perform routine maintenance checks, and report any mechanical issues or safety concerns to supervisors.
- Maintain accurate records, logs, and documentation of daily activities, including mileage, fuel consumption, maintenance checks, and load deliveries.
- Communicate with supervisors, project managers, and other team members to coordinate haul truck operations, prioritize tasks, and ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
- Adhere to safety procedures and protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), following safe driving practices, and participating in safety training and meetings.
- Operate haul trucks in a safe and environmentally responsible manner, minimize impacts on site conditions, and comply with environmental regulations and guidelines.
- Assist with other tasks on the construction site, such as material handling, equipment operation, and general labor, as needed and directed by supervisors.
- Maintain positive working relationships with all members of the crew.
- Adhere to company rules and regulations and comply with OSHA, ICC, and DOT regulations.
- Regular attendance is required according to company policy to ensure the crew can operate at the normal efficiency level.
- Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, and professionalism among fellow workers, subcontractors, and visitors on the construction site.
- Performs other duties of a similar or related nature as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Clean driving record with no violations, and must be able to clear a background check and drug screen.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations pertaining to commercial vehicles.
- Familiarity with construction sites, traffic laws, road regulations, and best practices for hauling materials and debris.
- Physical fitness and stamina to operate heavy equipment, perform manual labor, and work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail, situational awareness, and ability to assess and mitigate risks while operating haul trucks on construction sites.
- Effective communication skills to interact with supervisors, team members, and subcontractors, and follow instructions and safety guidelines.
- Ability to work independently, follow established procedures, and prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines and delivery schedules.
- Commitment to safety, quality, reliability, and professionalism in haul truck operations and contributing to the success of construction projects.
- Able to operate a tanker truck in a safe manner through all weather, road, and traffic conditions.
- Must be available to work varied shifts and schedules.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) class A with appropriate endorsements, such as tank vehicle, passenger, and double/triple trailer, and a Medical Card is required.
- Proven experience as a Haul Truck Driver in the construction industry, with a demonstrated ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
- Minimum 2(+) years proven experience of haul truck operation, loading, and unloading procedures, equipment maintenance, and safe driving practices in a construction environment.
- Valid Driver's license with a clear MVR Required

Physical Requirements:
- Exposure to the outdoor environment with machinery/equipment in the surrounding area.
- Must be able to push/pull 80+ lbs.
- Must be able to lift/carry 80+ lbs.
- Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the outdoor elements.
- May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
- Exposure to extreme heat or cold external temperatures
- Frequent sitting along with frequent standing and moving activity.
- Able to safely operate commercial and/or motor vehicles.
- Able to wear personal protective equipment is required, including but not limited to steel-toe shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, vest, etc.
