Summary: Plan, direct, and coordinate work activities and resources necessary for projects in accordance with cost, quality, and quantity specifications.

Essential Functions may include, but are not limited to:

  1. Review operations and confer with technical or administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems.
  2. Review processing schedules or production orders to make decisions concerning project, staffing, and equipment requirements, work procedures, and duty assignments, considering budgetary limitations and time constraints.
  3. Manage the development and performance of foreman, laborers, and other staff on the projects.
  4. Develop or implement production tracking or quality control systems, analyzing production, quality control, maintenance, or other operational reports, to detect production problems.
  5. Prepare and maintain production reports, timesheet reports, per diem requests, and other reports as required.
  6. Order selected materials and schedule concrete as needed. 
  7. White line and locate all projects. 
  8. Layout project from a set of plans. 
  9. Coordinate with primes and subcontractors on a continual basis. 

Required Qualifications:

  1. At least five years of highway construction experience, or significant specialized relevant experience.
  2. At least two years in a role providing guidance and direction to less senior crew members.
  3. Valid class C Texas driver license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Valid Texas commercial driver license.

Required Competencies:

  1. Advanced understanding of construction practices and use of tools and equipment in highway construction.
  2. The ability to read and understand plans and blueprints.
  3. Effective leadership skills with the ability to appropriately motivate subordinate employees.
  4. Basic computer skills using MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  5. Basic mathematical skills.
  6. Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  7. Ability to organize own work and that of others.
  8. Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
  9. Ability to comprehend and apply oral and written instructions.
  10. Ability to provide oral and written instructions.
  11. Ability to complete work accurately, timely, and safely under minimal supervision.

Working Environment:

Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments with constant exposure to noise, dust, fumes, noxious odors, gases, mechanical and electrical hazards, moving objects, sharp edges, and temperature extremes
