The HVAC Field Supervisor / Start-Up Tech is the on-site leader responsible for executing HVAC installations from rough-in through start-up and turnover. Youβll oversee crews and subcontractors, coordinate materials and schedules, enforce safety and quality standards, and personally handle start-up, testing, and commissioning of newly installed systems.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in the field, understands HVAC systems inside and out, and takes pride in making sure systems are installed correctlyβand run exactly as designed.
Lead and oversee HVAC field installation activities including equipment, ductwork, piping, insulation, and controls
Coordinate subcontractors, manpower, and sequencing to meet schedules and milestones
Ensure HVAC work complies with drawings, specs, codes, manufacturer requirements, and quality standards
Plan and manage material deliveries, equipment placement, and jobsite logistics
Coordinate HVAC scopes with other trades to maintain workflow and avoid conflicts
Enforce jobsite safety standards and company policies
Support inspections, testing, commissioning, punch lists, and system turnover
Track and report daily progress, manpower, and field issues
Self-perform HVAC start-up and testing, including:
Brazing
Low and high-voltage wiring
Basic TAB
Functional testing and documentation
Document and track all start-ups for each project
Required
Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and installation practices
Understanding of building codes and regulations
Experience with:
Construction scheduling and coordination
Site inspections and safety enforcement
Blueprint and diagram interpretation
Subcontractor management and troubleshooting
Hands-on experience with:
HVAC start-up procedures
Brazing
Low/high voltage wiring
Basic HVAC TAB
Strong problem-solving, communication, and reporting skills
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent
0β2 years of relevant experience
Preferred
Bachelorβs degree (a plus, not required)
Primarily field-based in outdoor and industrial environments
Exposure to:
High equipment noise
Chemical fumes
Electrical and mechanical hazards
Varying weather conditions
Walking on uneven terrain
Occasional driving between sites
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
