The IT Instructor provides technology instruction to individuals with disabilities. This position is responsible for developing and delivering curriculum aligned with approved course objectives while fostering a respectful, supportive, and student-centered learning environment. The instructor serves as a positive role model and collaborates with staff, students, families, and community partners to support student success.


  • Comply with all MTC policies and procedures, including safety and emergency protocols, HIPAA, FIPA, confidentiality standards, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. 
  • Plan, develop, and deliver information technology instruction based on approved curriculum, course syllabi, and student learning objectives. 
  • Adapt instructional methods and materials to accommodate diverse learning styles, abilities, communication needs, and accessibility requirements. 
  • Provide instruction in CompTIA certification content and other computer-related software and applications. 
  • Deliver training in Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and related technologies. 
  • Teach foundational computer hardware concepts, troubleshooting, peripherals, and maintenance procedures. 
  • Provide instruction in operating systems, including Windows environments, file management, and basic system navigation. 
  • Introduce and support the use of educational, adaptive, and assistive technology software programs. 
  • Teach safe, ethical, and responsible use of technology, including cybersecurity awareness, internet safety, social media practices, and protection of confidential information. 
  • Observe, assess, and document student participation, attendance, progress, and achievement of learning outcomes. 
  • Provide constructive feedback, encouragement, coaching, and individualized support to promote student growth and confidence. 
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements. 
  • Ensure classroom hardware, software, and instructional equipment are maintained and utilized in accordance with organizational policies and procedures. 
  • Maintain a clean, organized, professional, accessible, and functional classroom environment. 
  • Perform preventative maintenance and routine cleaning of classroom computers and equipment. 
  • Assist students in identifying community technology resources, online learning opportunities, employment resources, and safe public technology usage practices. 
  • Collaborate with instructors, support staff, case managers, and administration to support student achievement and program success. 
  • Participate in meetings, training, professional development activities, and organizational initiatives as required. 
  • Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, patience, empathy, adaptability, and cultural sensitivity in all interactions. 
  • Focuses on a people-first approach across the organization.? 
  • Diagnoses problems quickly, foresees potential issues, and delivers resolution. 
  • Maintain a collaborative work environment and work well with others. 
  • Perform additional duties as assigned. 
Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Education, or a related field preferred. 
  • Minimum of two (2) years of instructional, training, or teaching experience in computer technology, digital literacy, or related technical education. 
  • Current and valid CompTIA and Microsoft certifications required. 
  • Demonstrated experience with computer hardware, software applications, peripherals, operating systems, and educational technologies. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications and basic computer troubleshooting. 
  • Strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Ability to effectively instruct and engage individuals with varying abilities, learning styles, and support needs. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment. 
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities. 
  • Knowledge of adaptive teaching strategies, assistive technology, and inclusive instructional practices. 
  • Experience in vocational training, workforce development, adult education, or community-based instruction. 
  • Bilingual communication skills are a plus. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Instructional teaching and curriculum delivery 
  • Knowledge of disabilities preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and related technologies 
  • Knowledge of computer hardware, software systems, peripherals, and operating systems 
  • Understanding of internet safety, cybersecurity, and responsible social media usage 
  • Effective classroom management and student engagement techniques 
  • Strong customer service and relationship-building skills 
  • Excellent communication, active listening, and conflict-resolution skills 
  • Ability to demonstrate patience, empathy, adaptability, and professionalism 
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment 
  • Critical thinking, deductive reasoning, and decision-making abilities 
  • Ability to motivate, mentor, and support students in achieving educational and vocational goals 
  • Ability to operate computers, instructional technology, and office equipment. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, virtually, and in writing. 

Must pass a Level II background check/fingerprinting (https://info.flclearinghouse.com) and drug screening.
