POSITION SUMMARY:
Assemble, install, or repair pipes, fittings, or fixtures of heating, water, or drainage systems, according to specifications or plumbing codes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Review building plans and specifications to determine the layout for plumbing and related materials
Ability to test and troubleshoot systems/fixtures;
Install, repair, and maintain pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, appliances such as dishwashers or water heaters, or fixtures such as sinks or toilets, or water treatment systems using hand or power tools;
Assemble pipe sections, tubing, or fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or soldering, brazing, or welding equipment;
Direct helpers engaged in pipe cutting, preassembly, or installation of plumbing systems or components;
Perform scheduled maintenance service on plumbing systems and fixtures;
Maintains records of work assignments;
Assists other Property Management divisions such as the Custodial, Housing, or Roads & Grounds team;
Other position related duties as required and assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or its equivalent, GED; licensed by the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners as a Journeyman Plumber; Two years working experience as a plumber; Must possess a valid Texas Driver License and be insurable; must be able to successfully pass a post offer criminal history background check.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of water distribution and waste water disposal in residential and commercial buildings; knowledge of building codes, legislation, regulations, policies and procedures installation and maintenance; knowledge of standard construction safety practices and procedures; knowledge of Microsoft Office software such as Word and Excel; skills in advanced plumbing trade; analytical skills and ability to identify problems and take appropriate corrective action measures; ability to work cooperatively with other trades; effective verbal and written communication skills; time management skills, and ability to read and interpret drawings, specification and blueprints.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, talk and hear. The employee may also be required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel or crouch. Employee is occasionally required to lift up to 100 pounds. The vision requirements include: close vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus; May be required to work in confined spaces, on ladders and rooftops and in adverse weather conditions; May be exposed to dust, fumes, odors, oils and noise
