General Position Summary

As an Irrigation Tech employed at Alff Construction you will work on and troubleshoot commercial irrigation systems. You will collaborate with other professionals on a wide range of projects focused primarily on commercial property. You must be creative and resourceful to fulfill customer needs and be highly skilled in presenting proposed plans. Must be a self-starter or self-motivated individual.

Travel (% of work period)

Approximately 25% for site visits, meetings, conferences.

Essential Job Functions

· Overall understanding of commercial irrigation systems

· Troubleshoot commercial systems for potential issues

· Repair any component of any commercial irrigation system

· Perform start up and Winterization of each system

· Inventory and tool management

· Work order prioritization

· Landscape areas as needed

· Other duties as assigned

· Ability to troubleshoot commercial irrigation systems

· Proficient in drip systems both turf and rock/mulch beds

· Proficient in backflow repair and troubleshooting

· Ability to repair both main and lateral breaks

· Understanding of master valves, quick connects, drain valves, rain, and flow sensors

· Understanding of curb-stops to backflows

· Ability to rewire controllers, solenoids, clocks, and node controllers

· Ability to trace wiring on commercial irrigation system

Minimum Qualifications

1. Minimum 4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Familiar with Rainbird, Hunter, Irritrol and WeatherTRAK irrigation systems and controllers

Computer Skills: Quick learning ability for new database programs, proficient navigation of communication platforms (such as Timecard System, etc.), and moderate proficiency in Microsoft Suite programs.

Desired Qualifications

• High School Diploma
• 4+ years of experience in a similar role
• Must have or must have the ability to obtain Certified Irrigation Technician Certification (CIT)
